The Ministry of Education and Training confirmed that the removal of early admission does not reduce the candidates' chances of being admitted. However, candidates should pay attention to the university admission information because this new point will also have a certain impact on the schools' admission work.
Adjustment of admission time
In many recent admission seasons, early admission has been used by universities with many admission methods such as: considering academic records, considering international certificates, considering test scores to assess capacity and thinking... This early admission takes place before the high school graduation exam.
In the Draft Regulations on University Admissions in 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training has completely eliminated early admission. This regulation will have certain impacts on the admission plans of universities.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoa - Head of the Department of Examination and Training Quality Assurance, University of Transport said that in recent years, the school has maintained relatively stable admission methods. Previously, there was an early admission method for candidates with good academic performance at high school level and outstanding foreign language skills to serve advanced, high-quality programs.
According to Ms. Hoa, the impact on the school from the new regulations expected to be issued is not much, there is only a slight adjustment in time.
"We still maintain stable admission methods, including admission based on the results of the upcoming graduation exam, admission based on academic records and the results of the thinking assessment test organized by the University of Science and Technology. This year, we have added a new method, using the results of the National University's capacity assessment test," said Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoa.
At the Academy of Finance, in recent years, the school has not organized early admissions. Therefore, Dr. Luu Huu Duc - Head of Training Management Board, Academy of Finance affirmed that this regulation does not affect the school's admissions work.
Dr. Luu Huu Duc said: "There have been many opinions from experts in the field of education as well as education management assessing the two-sided nature of early admission. I also completely agree with the policy of not considering early admission for candidates from the 2025 admission season onwards."
Note the admission information of universities
In response to candidates' concerns that the removal of early admission will reduce their chances of being admitted to university, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung - Deputy Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) affirmed that the removal of early admission will not reduce the chances of being admitted for candidates. This adjustment only changes the time for schools to organize admission and announce compared to previous years.
Training institutions still have autonomy in enrollment. In particular, all enrollment methods that training institutions wish to use are still fully guaranteed according to current regulations.
From now until the high school graduation exam takes place, there is not much time left. Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung noted that candidates need to focus on studying, especially ensuring that they complete well the knowledge volume of the second semester of grade 12 in the general education program.
Along with that, students need to carefully understand what career and field they want to develop in. On that basis, based on information from training institutions, candidates can choose the appropriate career and training institution.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung said: "This ensures that candidates have a firm grasp of the information of the training institution. From there, when there is a plan for enrollment and implementation on the system for registration, students will operate early. According to the regulations, students are allowed to adjust their admission wishes, helping them ensure they register for the right major, profession and training institution."
Dr. Luu Huu Duc - Head of Training Management Department, Academy of Finance, noted that candidates should follow the admission information of the schools because the admission process depends entirely on the training institutions using the admission method that they choose.
“Each school will have its own admission plan and admission process, so candidates and parents need to determine which career and field they like, and based on that, choose the school blocks they like. From there, carefully study the admission plan of each school, recognize the differences in the admission plan to register appropriately,” Mr. Dung noted.
