Construction of Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Component 3 Project commenced

On June 18, the People's Committees of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and Dong Nai province coordinated with the Ministry of Transport to organize the groundbreaking ceremony of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway project, phase 1.

The groundbreaking ceremony at Ba Ria - Vung Tau bridge was connected online with the main bridge in Ho Chi Minh City and Dak Lak province. Within the framework of the ceremony, key projects were simultaneously started, including: investment in the construction of Ring Road 3, Ho Chi Minh City; Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway.

At the Ba Ria - Vung Tau bridge in My Xuan ward, Phu My town (bordering Dong Nai province), Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha attended, along with representatives of the Ministries of Transport, Construction, Planning and Investment, Government Office and leaders of two localities, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Dong Nai.

The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Component 3 project, the section through Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, is 19.5km long, with an investment capital of nearly VND5,000 billion. Of which, the section through Phu My town is 15.5km long, the end point through Ba Ria city is 4km long.

Meanwhile, the entire Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway (phase 1) is 53.7km long, with 4-6 lanes, and a total investment of VND17,837 billion. The project is divided into three component projects. Of which, component projects 1 and 2 are 34.2km long, implemented in Dong Nai, with a total cost of more than VND12,600 billion.

In the completion phase, the expressway will be expanded to ensure a scale of 6-8 lanes. According to the plan, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway project will be basically completed in 2025 and put into synchronous operation in 2026.

At the groundbreaking ceremony at Ba Ria - Vung Tau bridge, Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, Chairman of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial People's Committee said that Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway is a national key traffic project that Resolution No. 24 of the Politburo, Resolution No. 154 of the Government on the development of the Southeast region, determined to be completed and put into use by 2026, in order to open up a traffic route connecting localities in the region with the Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water port system, Long Thanh airport to help reduce the load and shorten travel time on the existing National Highway 51, with travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to Ba Ria expected to be only 70 minutes instead of 150 minutes as at present.

According to Mr. Tho, once formed, this expressway will contribute significantly to solving the inter-regional traffic problem, maximizing the advantages of Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water port and Long Thanh international airport, thereby facilitating traffic, helping businesses reduce costs, increasing the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods, and creating momentum for the Southeast - Southwest region to develop more strongly in the coming time.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Tho affirmed and committed to the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister that he would implement the project with the highest determination, ensuring the quality of the project.

“Ba Ria - Vung Tau commits to strictly implementing regulations on preventing corruption, negativity, and waste in investment, ensuring labor safety, and striving to complete the project ahead of schedule,” said Mr. Tho.

Phuoc An Bridge Project connecting Ba Ria - Vung Tau with Dong Nai

On the same morning, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and his delegation attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Phuoc An Bridge project organized by the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

Phuoc An Bridge is more than 4.3km long, spanning Thi Vai River, connecting Phu My town (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) with Nhon Trach district (Dong Nai province), with a total investment of about 4,900 billion VND and is expected to be completed in December 2027.

According to the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, this project is of special importance connecting the entire Cai Mep - Thi Vai port system with the Southeast and Southwest regions.

This is a key project that the Party Committee, government and people of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province have devoted much effort to pursuing and determined to implement over the past time. Since the policy was approved in 2009, generations of leaders of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province have always made every effort, sought solutions, and sought support from the Central Government to promote the project.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, said that thanks to the consensus and support of the Government, the Prime Minister, the Central Ministries and branches, and the efforts of all levels and branches of the province, this project has been actively implemented and is qualified to start construction according to regulations. This is a very important event, a step to realize the contents of Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW dated October 7, 2022 of the Politburo on socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the Southeast region to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

“This is a testament to the determination to cooperate and connect regions according to Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW of the Politburo. We hope that the leaders of Dong Nai province and the leaders and people of Nhon Trach district will continue to support and accompany Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to complete this extremely important project,” said Mr. Tho.

Mr. Tho also requested the Project Management Board and contractors to carry out the work immediately after the groundbreaking ceremony. The project implementation must be serious and synchronous according to the set plan. At the same time, the provincial departments and branches, according to their functions and tasks, must strengthen the inspection, supervision and urging of the project implementation, especially the prevention of corruption, negativity and waste throughout the project implementation process from the investment preparation stage to the final settlement and completion of the project.
