GĐXH - The elderly woman's will was changed after witnessing the behavior of her 3 children.

It is probably not too strange that many wealthy people decide not to leave their huge fortunes to their children.

However, this has long been a controversial topic as many people would rather leave their assets to their cats and dogs than their children.

Recently, a similar story also happened in China and received much attention from social network users.

Accordingly, a woman surnamed Liu in Shanghai, China recently surprised her relatives when she decided to change her will.

Ms. Liu is said to have left her children out of her will, instead of dividing the money among her three children, she designated her dogs and cats as the recipients of her $2.8 million (about 68 billion VND) estate.

Being abandoned by her children caused Ms. Liu to change her will.

Several years ago, Ms. Liu made a will leaving money and property to her three children.

However, she changed her mind about the inheritance after seeing her children refuse to visit or care for her when she was sick. Her children rarely even called her, according to SCMP.

When she is sad, she only has her pet dog and cat by her side. She said that dogs and cats are her comfort in old age.

So she changed her will and chose a local veterinary clinic to manage her estate and take responsibility for the care of her dogs and cats after she passed away.

An official from the eastern branch of the China Will Registration Center said they had warned Ms Liu about the risks of giving all her money to the pet clinic before she made her final will and said she could always change the will again.

"We told Aunt Liu that if her children change their attitude towards her, she can always change her mind again."

What children should do for their elderly parents

Parents spend their whole lives raising their children. At the end of their lives, they only hope that their children will be filial and become good citizens when they go out into society.

In fact, a filial child does not necessarily have to provide a lot of money to his parents. The 3 "golden points" below are the most valuable things that children bring to their parents.

Stay in touch

No matter how busy you are, you should take time to talk to your parents to understand their wants and needs.

Take advantage of the short time you still have to discuss their retirement, health, and retirement plans.

Instead of sitting silently or being engrossed in your phone, when you visit them, strike up some conversation and listen to your parents.

You can talk about your childhood, fond memories, your parents' friends. While you are doing that, share some family memories, your parents will be happy to hear the things you reminisce about.

No matter what your opinion is, don't interrupt your parents when they are talking. Learn to listen carefully to the words that are being spoken as well as to what is being said.

Then, at the appropriate time in the conversation or when the conversation is over, you should express your feelings.

Take care of parents

As they age, parents often show signs of declining health. They need someone to take care of them and worry about them when they are sick.

In reality, not everyone is willing to take care of their elderly parents. They have many reasons and parents have to take care of each other even when they are sick.

Many unfilial children deny this, leaving their parents to fend for themselves.

For old parents, when they are on their deathbed, money becomes an external thing. They do not value money but only care about their children.

At this time, a truly filial child will be responsible for his parents, regardless of hardship, accepting to take care of them.

In old age, if parents receive attentive care and attention from their children, that is certainly more valuable than money.

Of course, if you want your children to be affectionate and filial, parents also need to maintain a good relationship from a young age.

If children are born into a warm, happy family and always respect their parents, they will know how to live the most righteous life.

Be patient and always keep your promises to your parents.

Patience is not something that comes naturally to most of us, especially when our parents are old and have poor eyesight, slow feet, and poor thinking.

Just as parents were patient with their children when they were young, children need to show patience when taking care of their parents when they grow up.

Make it a priority to spend time with them and try to make sure your schedule is with them as committed.

If you live far away from them, visit often and make an effort to include your parents in daily family activities.

Respect your promises to your parents, don't break them and let them down.
