The four iPhone 17 models, including the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, expected to launch later this year, will have significant front camera upgrades compared to the iPhone 16 series.
In the latest report from GF Securities, analyst Jeff Pu published a statistical table in which he confirmed that all four iPhone 17 models, including iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, will be equipped with a 24MP front camera.
All four iPhone 16 models launching in September 2024 will only feature a 12MP front camera.
Meanwhile, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that at least one iPhone 17 model will have a 24MP front camera, an upgrade that has been mentioned many times before. According to him, this improvement will significantly improve image quality.
With 24MP resolution, photos can retain sharpness even when heavily cropped, providing more flexibility in post-editing.
Jeff Pu also reiterated some other rumors about the iPhone 17, including a RAM upgrade to 12GB and a 48MP Telephoto camera for the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max models. He predicts that the A19 and A19 Pro chips will be manufactured on TSMC's third-generation 3nm process, called N3P.
Both Jeff Pu and Ming-Chi Kuo have a fairly accurate track record when it comes to predicting upcoming Apple products, and their predictions tend to be fairly reliable thanks to their sources in Apple’s supply chain in Asia.
According to Apple's annual tradition, the iPhone 17 series is expected to launch in September 2025, including iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Air with an ultra-thin design.
