(Dan Tri) - According to Siam Sport, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) wants to invite the Vietnamese team to participate in the King's Cup 2025 friendly tournament.
The Thai team just suffered defeat against the Vietnamese team in the two final matches of the AFF Cup 2024 with the scores of 1-2 and 2-3. This is the first time in history that the "War Elephants" have lost two final matches against the "Golden Dragons".

In fact, in the previous 29 matches, the Golden Temple team only lost 3 times to the Vietnamese team in 1998, 2008 and 2019.
Faced with that situation, the President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) Madam Pang expressed his desire to invite the Vietnamese team to compete again in the King's Cup 2025 friendly tournament taking place in September. The head of Thai football said: "We want to invite the team that just won the AFF Cup 2024, the Vietnamese team, to participate in the King's Cup 2025.
They will help us to be successful in bringing the tournament to the provinces. Previously it was Chiang Mai and most recently Songkhla province. This needs to be maintained."

However, Madam Pang is still not sure about receiving the consent from the Vietnamese team. In recent years, the "Golden Star Warriors" have participated in the King's Cup 2019. In which, we won 1-0 against Thailand in the semi-finals but lost to Curacao in the final after a penalty shootout.
The date and venue for the 2025 King's Cup have yet to be determined. In March, Vietnam and Thailand will enter the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. Thailand will be in the same group as Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan, and Chinese Taipei. Vietnam will be in the same group as Malaysia, Laos, and Nepal.
Ahead of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, Thailand will have a friendly match with Afghanistan on March 21.
