Event - Binh Phuoc promotes legal education for prisoners

Organize propaganda and dissemination of legal education for prisoners.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ba Duc, Warden of the Binh Phuoc Provincial Police Detention Center, informed that the provincial police detention center currently manages, detains and rehabilitates more than 400 inmates. The subjects come from different backgrounds, are of different ages and have different levels of awareness.

In addition to managing and detaining prisoners, one of the important tasks that the Provincial Police Detention Center includes in the unit's annual work program and is regularly carried out is the work of propagating and disseminating legal education to prisoners.

Right from the time they enter the Camp, prisoners are informed and learn about the Camp's rules and regulations, and the leniency policies of the Party and the State. Thereby, helping them develop the habit of learning, raising awareness, respecting the law, and being assured of reform so that they can soon return to their families and society.

The dissemination and education of law is always given special attention by the Provincial Police Department and regularly issues documents directing and guiding the Police of all units to seriously and effectively carry out this work.

On that basis, the Board of Supervisors of the Detention Camp has developed a plan and implemented propaganda, dissemination and legal education for detainees, prisoners and prisoners serving sentences at the Camp.

Strengthen and improve the capacity of the staff working in propaganda, dissemination and legal education with strong political will and professional capacity.

At the same time, assign tasks to each officer in charge of the Sub-camps to seriously carry out propaganda, dissemination and legal education according to regulations, regularly innovate propaganda methods and forms that are easy to understand, easy to remember and suitable for each subject.

In addition to regular legal education sessions, prisoners watch news programs, read newspapers, and listen to radio programs in the common living area. Teaching staff often combine this with group and work group activities.

The propaganda content focuses on the rules and regulations of detention camps; legal provisions on citizens' rights and obligations; Criminal Law, execution of criminal sentences, regulations on amnesty, residence, community reintegration, leniency policies of the Party and State for law violators who have made great efforts to serve their sentences, etc.

Therefore, the situation of prisoners violating the regulations of the Prison is very rare and rarely happens; the activities and living hours of the Prison are in order, following the correct schedule.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ba Duc, Warden of Binh Phuoc Provincial Police Prison, said that in recent times, all levels and sectors in the area have coordinated with the Provincial Police in disseminating the law, contributing to the transformation and encouragement of prisoners to express their desire to reform, strengthen their beliefs, arouse the spirit of knowing how to stand up after falling, determine the path to goodness, eliminate inferiority complex, and be determined to live a useful life for society.

This activity brings many messages and profound emotions to prisoners, especially educating life skills for young people who have made mistakes, practicing a pure and healthy lifestyle, having a firm ideological stance, having ambitions to rise up, living responsibly towards themselves, their families and society, to move towards a better life; orienting young prisoners to reintegrate into the community, contributing to reducing the rate of recidivism and law violations.

In addition, the camp always fully implements the regulations on legal aid in litigation activities for detainees and temporary detainees such as: posting the Legal Aid Information Board, placing Legal Aid bulletin boxes, distributing free legal aid request forms; posting information sheets on legal aid in detention cells, temporary detention rooms and common living areas of detainees and temporary detainees; guiding detainees and defendants to access information on legal aid.

Prisoner Pham Hong Thai shared: "When I first entered the Camp, I was very self-conscious and lost faith in life. The Board of Directors and officers of the Provincial Police Detention Camp regularly encouraged and helped me. Every week and every month, there were propaganda sessions to disseminate legal knowledge, helping me understand the leniency policy of the Party and the State. I always strive to reform well."
