Tonight (January 1), the Investigation Police Department of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City urgently arrested Nguyen Van Dung (56 years old) and Bui Thi Ngoc Anh (54 years old, Dung's "wife") to investigate the act of "Disturbing public order".

This couple brutally beat someone in the center of District 1, causing public outrage.

According to the investigation, at 11:30 p.m. on December 31, 2024, Mr. TAP (30 years old, from Lam Dong) drove a car carrying his wife, Ms. HNL (28 years old, from Tra Vinh) on Le Duan Street in the direction of the Zoo and Botanical Garden to the Reunification Palace.

When arriving at 2B Le Duan Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Mr. P. was intentionally blocked by Nguyen Van Dung, driving a motorbike carrying Bui Thi Ngoc Anh, not allowing him to turn around, leading to an argument between the two sides.

After that, Dung attacked and beat Mr. P. and Ms. L. right on the street. When Mr. HHV (30 years old, living in District 7, a motorbike taxi driver) came to stop them, Dung and Anh turned around and attacked them. After that, Dung and Anh continued to beat Mr. P. and Ms. L.

Passersby filmed most of the incident and shared it on social media.

After the incident, Mr. P., Ms. L. and Mr. V. went to Ben Nghe Ward Police to report.

Upon receiving the news, District 1 Police directed an investigation. This morning, the authorities took Dung and Ngoc Anh in for questioning. At the police station, both admitted their actions.
