On the morning of March 14, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City held a ceremony to block the flow of water for the Ea Tam Irrigation Lake project in Buon Ma Thuot City. This is one of the typical projects to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Buon Ma Thuot Victory and the liberation of Dak Lak province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee Tran Duc Nhat said that the Ea Tam Irrigation Reservoir project in Buon Ma Thuot City is a key project of Dak Lak province as well as Buon Ma Thuot city. The Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee has approved the Feasibility Study Report in Decision No. 2729/QD-UBND dated September 29, 2017, with a total investment of VND 1,468.5 billion, of which VND 700 billion is invested from Government Bond capital and VND 768 billion from local capital and other legal sources.
Ea Tam Irrigation Lake Project, Buon Ma Thuot City is one of the key projects of great significance to Buon Ma Thuot City in particular and Dak Lak Province in general. The project is divided into two construction phases: Phase 1, with an investment of 1,132 billion 205 million VND; Phase 2, with an investment of 336 billion 304 million VND. In which, the construction of embankments along the lake with a total length of 2,500m will be implemented; Traffic routes connecting the project area with a total length of 1,125m include (Route No. 14 is 350m long, Route No. 2 is 272m long, Nguyen Du extended route is 500m long). The road surface is 14m wide, the sidewalk is 4m wide.

The project was started on March 10, 2020, with the determination and efforts of all sectors and levels, along with the consensus and support of the people. After more than 5 years of active implementation, the progress of the main items of the project has been basically completed, meeting the conditions to carry out the work of blocking the construction flow and storing water to complete phase 1 of the project in 2025.
According to Mr. Tran Duc Nhat, after blocking the flow, the units will continue to speed up the progress of the remaining works of phase 1 as well as phase 2 of the project; including completing the construction of the earth dam, accompanying items and expected completion of water storage in December 2025; striving to complete construction of items such as roads connecting the project area, completing and putting the project into use in 2026.
The completed project will ensure water regulation for local agricultural production.
To ensure the construction goal after blocking the river is to safely overcome the flood, basically completing the entire project before the main flood season in 2025, Vice Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee Tran Duc Nhat requested the City Construction Investment Project Management Board (representing the investor) and related units, contractors to focus on implementing a number of contents: Organizing appraisal and approval of measures to organize blocking the river, constructing to overcome the flood to ensure absolute safety for the project and people in the area; Closely coordinate with related units to resolve problems at the scene quickly and promptly; Organize the completion of the remaining work items; organize the preparation and submission for appraisal and approval of disaster response plans for the project, the downstream area of the dam during the construction process, etc.
The Ea Tam Irrigation Reservoir Project in Buon Ma Thuot City, when completed, ensures the regulation of over 1 million m3 of water to provide domestic water for about 25,000 people in the city and surrounding areas, ensuring the regulation of water sources for local agricultural production activities; contributing to reducing the impact of climate change, creating environmental landscapes, contributing to increasing groundwater levels in the area and being a place to exploit tourism potential, calling for investment and expanding urban space around the project area.
Phase 1 includes the main dam, the right shoulder of the dam has been completed with earthwork to the design elevation of 444.5m; the earthwork has been completed on 2/3 of the left shoulder of the dam to the design elevation of 444.0m. The total volume of earthwork is 67,000/87,000m3; the remaining part will be constructed after blocking the stream from CN5+10-:-CN7 (within the natural streambed), meeting the conditions for blocking the stream; The auxiliary dam, earthwork construction has basically completed the entire auxiliary dam to the design elevation, meeting the conditions for blocking the stream. The completed construction meets the conditions for channeling and returning water to the old stream for irrigation. Flood spillway, deep spillway, reinforced concrete structure, total length L = 190.25 m; spillway width B = 28.0 m; spillway threshold elevation 438.0 m, pin top elevation 445.00 m, spillway flow Q1%max = 411.0 m3/s. Basically completed to meet the conditions for diversion; Post-spillway discharge channel, currently the excavation of the foundation pit and pouring of the tie beam concrete have been completed, the remaining volume is to reinforce the stone paving of the discharge channel foundation, basically completed to meet the conditions for diversion. In phase 2, the volume of the tray foot of the embankment lines located below the elevation of 440m, about 1,000m, needs to be completed before blocking the flow. To date, about 100% of the volume has been completed. |
