More than 500 thousand VND is the amount of money that student Pham Minh Hang (Ninh Thanh Secondary School, Ninh Binh City) saved to buy school supplies when needed. But today Minh Hang used that money for something else: supporting and helping people in the area affected by floods after storm No. 3.
Minh Hang shared: Along with raising plastic pigs in class, I also have a plastic pig at home. I put all the money I get from my grandparents and parents for good grades, lucky money, money from selling beer cans, etc. into the piggy bank to save for slaughtering the pig during Tet. But this time, before Tet, I had to use it. Although the amount of money is very small, I feel very happy to be able to personally contribute and give gifts to people in flood-hit areas.
Teacher Dang Thi Anh Van, President of the Trade Union and Head of the Red Cross Association of Ninh Thanh Secondary School, said: In the face of serious flooding in some northern mountainous provinces and some localities in Ninh Binh province, the school's Red Cross Association has mobilized all staff, teachers, students and parents to join hands, contribute and create resources to send practical gifts to people in flooded areas.
After more than 1 day of launching, the school has received more than 50 million VND and over 200 essential items such as instant noodles, water, milk, cakes, etc. The school has sent this money and gifts to the people in the flood-affected areas of Duc Long commune; to the Ninh Binh City Charity Association and the Provincial Red Cross Association to promptly coordinate and give to the people in the northern mountainous provinces and the people in the flood-affected areas. Hopefully, along with the hearts of the people of the whole country in general, the feelings of teachers and students of Ninh Thanh Secondary School in particular will be the most meaningful and practical encouragement, hoping that the people in the flood-affected areas will soon overcome difficulties and losses to stabilize their lives.
In recent years, along with teaching and learning activities, the school has paid special attention to and done well humanitarian and charitable activities in many forms such as: Mobilizing members inside and outside the school's Red Cross branch to participate in and carry out movements to build the association's fund; launching movements to support poor students and victims of Agent Orange... Thereby arousing, nurturing and educating students about compassion and sharing.
Typically, in the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years, due to the complicated developments of the COVID-19 epidemic, the collective of cadres, teachers, staff and students of Ninh Thanh Secondary School enthusiastically participated in contributing, supporting and encouraging the spirit of the frontline forces against the epidemic; COVID-19 Prevention and Control Fund; supporting people affected by floods in the Central region with a total amount of tens of millions of VND. On holidays, Tet, and the opening of the school year, the school has also actively mobilized philanthropists, together with cadres, teachers and staff to give about 70-90 gifts each year to students in difficult circumstances, orphans of the School, thereby contributing to educating awareness, perfecting personality and life skills for students.
For teachers and students of Ninh Khanh Primary School (Ninh Binh City), the organization of Mid-Autumn Festival programs in 2024 has changed a lot. Instead of focusing on many fun activities, art performances, sports... as planned, teachers and students will devote many practical activities to people in flood-affected areas.
Teacher Luong Thi Oanh, Principal of Ninh Khanh Primary School said: Implementing the 2018 general education program with 5 main qualities of students: patriotism, compassion, diligence, honesty and responsibility; compassion has been promoted and educated by teachers and students through teaching and learning activities and especially through donation activities, helping disadvantaged students in the school, as well as in the area through school Red Cross activities.
In recent days, floods have caused serious consequences to the lives of people in general and students in the flood-affected areas in particular. To practically reach out to people in the flood-affected areas, Ninh Khanh Primary School has conveyed to cadres, teachers, staff, parents and students the appeal of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the appeal letter of the Provincial Red Cross Society, the City Red Cross Society... to mobilize resources to support people.
With mobilized resources, the school organized a trip to transport essential goods to support people affected by floods in Gia Thuy commune (Nho Quan). In particular, to share the difficulties with teachers and students of Gia Thinh Primary School (Gia Vien) - a place heavily affected by floods, the school presented Mid-Autumn gifts and 20 million VND in cash. Hopefully, with these gifts, teachers and students of Gia Thinh Primary School will soon overcome difficulties to stabilize their lives and teaching and learning.
"Currently, students of Ninh Khanh Primary School are continuing to contribute and support moon cakes to send to children in flood-hit areas through the City Red Cross Society. I believe that, although they cannot fully enjoy the festival as originally planned, the students will have the most memorable Mid-Autumn Festival, a Mid-Autumn Festival of love, of sharing, and of support in times of hardship and adversity. This is a valuable lesson for students" - teacher Luong Thi Oanh was moved.
In recent years, the work of Red Cross youth and school children in the province has made strong progress, bringing practical results, attracting the participation of cadres, teachers, parents and students. Humanitarian and charitable activities in schools have contributed to the formation and development of personality and ethics for students, helping them - the future owners of the country - to cultivate more compassion, love for people, love for their homeland and country.
Mr. Bui Quang Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, affirmed: With the joint efforts of members of the Red Cross chapters at schools, a great resource has been created to support those in difficult and disadvantaged circumstances. Typically, the movements "Tet Nhan Ai"; Movement to support people in areas affected by natural disasters, floods, etc. , have attracted the participation of a large number of cadres, members, Red Cross youth, teachers, students and parents. Every year, school chapters have mobilized and given hundreds of gifts to teachers and students in especially difficult circumstances, sick and ill; supported people, donated books, school supplies and clothes to students in flood-affected areas, etc. Red Cross activities in schools have contributed to improving the quality of comprehensive education, limiting and repelling social evils inside and outside schools.
