(kontumtv.vn) – In recent times, from the capital of the National Target Program, localities in Dak Ha district have proactively implemented many solutions to support the livelihoods of ethnic minorities. From this resource, many households have changed their thinking and working methods in economic development, rising up to escape poverty sustainably ; contributing to the effective implementation of the new rural construction program with local authorities .
After receiving support from the State for goat breeding, Mr. A Wông’s family in Kon Jong village, Ngọk Réo commune, learned techniques for caring for and growing grass to ensure food for the goats, especially in the dry season. Up to now, the herd of goats has developed steadily, bringing in a good income, helping the family pay off all debts and invest in machinery for agricultural production and coffee care. Realizing the effectiveness of goat farming, the family plans to invest in expanding the scale of farming to get rich. Mr. A Wông said: “ I had never raised goats before, so I didn’t know. After receiving support from the State, I learned to invest in raising livestock, and found it quite effective. Now I will invest more to develop it more stably.”
Two years ago, Ms. Y The's family in Dak Xe - Ko Ne village, Dak Long commune received support from the State with 2 striped pigs from the National Target Program 1719. Currently, the family has expanded the herd to nearly 10 pigs. On average, she sells 2 batches of pigs for meat each year, earning over 10 million VND/sale. Ms. Y The excitedly said: " We grow crops, so we only have income during the harvest season. But in times like now, if we don't have income, we can sell pigs, and we have income to cover our living expenses. It's still better. And it also creates excitement in the family, seeing the pigs grow up and then we sell them. When we have income, we divide it into capital, buy food and buy more pigs, and spend some on family expenses such as gas, books for the children."
With over 90% of the population being ethnic minorities, Dak Long is the last commune in Dak Ha district to be recognized as a commune meeting new rural standards in 2024. The average income per capita of the commune is nearly 50 million VND, an increase of 30 million VND compared to 2019. In order to strive to reduce the poverty rate to below 3.6%, aiming to build a model new rural residential area in ethnic minority areas, the locality continues to effectively utilize resources of the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas to support, accompany, and help ethnic minorities boldly convert crops and livestock, promoting socio-economic development. Mr. Hoang Cong Ai - Chairman of Dak Long Commune People's Committee, said: " The commune has applied national target programs, and this year it is expected to support people in terms of crops and livestock, especially breeding cows for reproduction. All households that are eligible to escape poverty this year will be considered for support by the commune, with the three targets being poor households, near-poor households, and households that have escaped poverty within 36 months. Calling on organizations inside and outside the locality, higher-level mass organizations, and the District Women's Union to focus on supporting livestock and striped pigs to help households increase their income to escape poverty."
From 2022 to present, Dak Ha district has allocated more than 187 billion VND in capital from the National Target Program 1719 to build more than 160 models in various fields, attracting more than 5,000 ethnic minority households to participate. Through implementation, most ethnic minorities have known how to apply science and technology to production, change the structure of crops and livestock, renovate mixed gardens... to increase income. Ms. Pham Thi May - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ngok Reo Commune, said: " We choose the right subjects and identify households that really have the need and have the will and determination to implement. And in the implementation process, the commune must strengthen inspection and supervision work and promote the role of the village management board, the Party cell, and the organizations, as well as direct the veterinary staff to regularly inspect and guide people on disease prevention and care techniques to propagate and mobilize households to properly implement disease prevention and livestock breeding techniques to develop and expand the scale of livestock farming in the area."
With many synchronous and effective solutions, the implementation of the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority Areas has created momentum for Dak Ha district to develop comprehensively, with annual economic growth rates reaching and exceeding the set targets. Up to now, 100% of the district’s communes have met the standards of new rural communes./.
