Variety of ways

Gia Rai town is a typical locality implementing the Project "Supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households" in Bac Lieu province. To effectively carry out this task, the Party Committee and the district government have identified the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses as a task of special importance, and at the same time one of the top priorities in poverty reduction. The town focuses maximum resources to help households in difficult circumstances ensure housing conditions, ensuring publicity and transparency. Party Committees and authorities in the district have organized a review of the housing situation, listened to the thoughts and aspirations of poor households to find solutions to support and remove difficulties for the people.

These days, Nguyen Ngoc Hiep's family in Khuc Treo hamlet (Tan Phong commune, Gia Rai town) is busy building a new house. Now 50 years old, Hiep never thought she would be able to build a house to live in. For decades since getting married, she and her family have had to live in a rented house. Her husband, Tran Van Hien, works as a worker at a seafood processing company. Although he has a relatively stable income, the family of 6 people is only enough to take care of the children's food and education, without any savings. Hiep herself is often sick and ill, so she can only do odd jobs such as washing dishes and cleaning at parties, with an unstable income.

The people in the neighborhood were also happy and shared the joy with her family by doing many practical things. Some people gave corrugated iron sheets, some contributed labor days so that her family could complete the house soon. “With a new house, from now on, my family will not only have to rent a house, but can work with peace of mind. Tet At Ty 2025 will be the happiest Tet for me. Our family thanks the local government for supporting poor people like me to have a solid house,” Ms. Hiep shared.

Not only Ms. Hiep, more than 80 households with housing difficulties in Gia Rai town were also approved to build new houses in the first phase. The households receiving support to remove temporary and dilapidated houses this time are all poor households, in difficult circumstances, living in seriously degraded houses. Each household was supported with 60 million VND in cash. The local Party Committee, government, armed forces, youth union and people participated in helping with construction work.

The whole political system is involved.

Implementing the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025" of the Prime Minister, Bac Lieu province is mobilizing the participation of the entire political system and people of all walks of life to complete nearly 800 houses so that the poor can have new, solid houses in time to welcome the Spring of At Ty 2025.

Mr. Le Minh Hai - Secretary of Gia Rai Town Party Committee said that after checking, there are still more than 300 houses in the locality that need to be built under the Temporary and Dilapidated House Program. In the immediate future, in the first phase, the town strives to complete the handover of more than 80 houses before Tet At Ty. There are also many cases of poor people who do not have land to build houses. The local government must mobilize relatives to donate or support money for the poor to buy land. Households are also supported and created jobs according to each specific case to have a stable income, ensuring their lives.

In Hong Dan district, after screening, there are 926 poor households, of which 257 poor households live in temporary houses or dilapidated houses. Mr. Nguyen Van Chung - Secretary of Hong Dan District Party Committee said that in the first phase of 2024, the district supported the construction of 230 houses for poor households who are unable to build their own houses, with a total cost of 11.5 billion VND from the province's Social Security Fund. All projects ensure the "3 hard" criteria (hard foundation, hard roof and hard frame). The district is determined to implement and strive to complete the houses before Tet At Ty 2025.

Vice Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang said that the province still has 1,643 poor and near-poor households living in temporary and dilapidated houses that need to be rebuilt. After the first review, the province has 779 temporary and dilapidated houses that need to be repaired and rebuilt. The province strives to complete the first phase of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses by the end of December 2024.

To ensure resources for implementing the Program, Bac Lieu province focuses on allocating the provincial budget, mobilized resources from the Gratitude Fund, Social Security Fund, housing support funds under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority Areas, socialized resources...

The Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee requested local Party committees and authorities to mobilize the entire political system to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses; step up propaganda to raise people's awareness; localities proactively advance funds and mobilize and mobilize social resources to have more funding sources to support the implementation progress, ensuring completion in 2024.

Localities urge, support and supervise households to build new houses and repair houses to ensure the "3 hard" requirements; mobilize cadres, members, soldiers of the armed forces, and people to join hands to support materials and working days to save time and costs for building houses for poor and near-poor households; establish inspection and supervision teams for the mobilization, support and implementation, ensuring policies reach each poor and near-poor household with housing difficulties that is eligible for support...
