Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha directed the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) to request two private universities, Saigon Technology University and Phuong Dong University, to urgently convert to private universities.

The Government Office issued Notice No. 449/TB-VPCP on the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha at the meeting on converting the type of public university to the type of private university.
In the above Notice, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha concluded: Implementing the provisions of the 2005 Education Law and Decree No. 75/2006/ND-CP dated August 2, 2006 of the Government, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 122/2006/QD-TTg dated May 29, 2006, in which: agreeing to convert 19 private universities into private universities; assigning the Minister of Education and Training to preside over and coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to issue regulations and guidelines for converting private universities into private universities with the conversion deadline to be completed before June 30, 2007.
Up to now, there are still 2 private universities that have not yet carried out the conversion according to regulations. The Ministry of Education and Training seriously learned from experience; promptly performed the assigned functions and tasks, issued guidance documents with specific deadlines and strict sanctions, requiring Saigon University of Technology and Phuong Dong Private University to strictly comply with the law, promptly carry out the conversion according to the correct procedures and regulations.
