For the EU market, the decline in exports to this market was milder due to increased demand at the end of the year, and inflation here has also cooled down somewhat. In November, shrimp exports to this market decreased by 3% to 36 million USD.

Exports to China and Hong Kong (China) continued to decline in November. Demand in this market was unstable, growing positively in the three months from June to August, then returning to a downward trend in September, October and November. However, the decline was not as sharp as in the first months of the year. China and Hong Kong (China) were the markets with the lowest decline among the major import markets.

In the US market, tuna exports continued to grow in November, with an increase of 19% over the same period. However, this growth was still not enough to offset the previous decline, so the cumulative export turnover of tuna to this market in the first 11 months of 2023 still decreased by 35%.

Among tuna products exported to the US market, exports of processed and canned tuna products tended to grow continuously in the second half of the year. Notably, by the end of November 2023, exports of other processed tuna products, mainly frozen steamed tuna loins, increased by 23%.

VASEP experts also commented that tuna exports to Canada have also grown continuously in the past two months. Exports to this market in November increased by 117% compared to the same period last year.

The impact of the prolonged Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Israel-Hamas conflict, and the instability in the Middle East have slowed the recovery of the world economy; prices of some goods and input materials for aquaculture development remain high, high logistics costs put pressure on production activities, especially when consumption demand stagnates and production scale is reduced; the European Commission continues to maintain the "yellow card" warning for Vietnam's exploited seafood,... causing Vietnam's seafood exports to fail to meet the set plan.

According to statistics from the Department of Fisheries, the total aquatic product output in 2023 is estimated at 9.269 million tons, up 2% over the previous year.
