Of which, seafood exports to the Chinese market increased the most, up to 80.8% compared to the same period in 2024. In contrast, seafood exports to Japan, the United States, and South Korea decreased by 7.6%; 3.5%; 9.5% respectively compared to the same period in 2024.
Regarding shrimp products, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, in 2024, Vietnam exported 843 million USD to the Chinese market, an increase of 39% compared to 2023. Thanks to strong growth, China and Hong Kong (China) surpassed the US to become Vietnam's largest shrimp import markets.
China's domestic shrimp supply has decreased due to adverse weather conditions, and Ecuador has also reduced exports to China in 2024. China has also introduced many solutions to increase consumer spending, which supports shrimp imports into this market.
In 2024, in the structure of Vietnamese shrimp products exported to China and Hong Kong (China), other types of shrimp will account for the highest proportion of 51.7% due to China's strong increase in lobster imports from Vietnam in 2024.
