“A member of Thailand U22 intentionally rushed into our technical area to provoke us after they equalized 2-2 at the end of the second half.
It was this man's actions that sparked the subsequent brawl between the two teams.
When U22 Indonesia raised the score to 3-2, one of our members did the same thing in the technical area of the U22 Thailand team.
Everything happened so crazy, in an inexplicable way, but Thailand was the one who started this fight," said the coach of U22 Indonesia.
In response to this statement by coach Indra Sjafri, a Thai journalist with a Twitter account named Ta Lao, posted evidence to denounce U22 Indonesia.
According to this journalist, an Indonesian U22 player suddenly ran across the technical area of the "War Elephants" to provoke, when the score was 2-1 in favor of the team from the archipelago.
This situation happened before Yotsakon Burapha put the ball into the U22 Indonesia net for the second time in the match.
Thai journalist affirmed that U22 Indonesia were the ones who started the fight in the final match and all of Mr. Indra Sjafri's arguments were untrue.
Meanwhile, after witnessing the scuffle between U22 Thailand and U22 Indonesia, the FIFA President expressed his disappointment.
“Southeast Asian football has the potential to grow in both depth and breadth. However, it is held back by violence and other social issues.
The incident on the night of May 16 at the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh was very unfortunate.
The team leaders should have taken measures to prevent the players from having conflicts. But they jumped in and fought with the players.
The images from the SEA Games final send a very negative message in football,” said Mr. Infantino.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is also investigating the cause of the brawl in the men's football final of the 32nd SEA Games.
