On the afternoon of March 10, U.22 Vietnam gathered again, officially starting the preparation process for the 2026 U.23 Asian qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games.
The U.22 Vietnam coaching staff does not include coach Kim Sang-sik, as the Korean coach is busy with the Vietnamese team preparing for the March training session towards the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
The person appointed to coach U.22 Vietnam is Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh. Assisting Mr. Vinh in this afternoon's training session is also goalkeeper coach Lee Woon-jae, who has just joined the coaching staff of the Vietnam national team and U.22 Vietnam, after signing a 1-year contract with VFF.
U.22 Vietnam gathered this afternoon (March 10) to start the first training session in 2025. In this training session, the U.22 coaching staff selected most of the new faces selected from the performances of young players in the V-League, as well as the previous U.20 Vietnam team, to create a list for the training trip in China.
According to the plan, U.22 Vietnam will gather again on March 10 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. After that, they will practice and then go to China to play an international friendly tournament.
The CFA Team China 2025 international football tournament is organized by the Chinese Football Association from March 20 to March 25 in Jiangsu, with the participation of 4 U.22 teams: Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Korea and host China.
Coach Dinh Hong Vinh (second from right) will replace coach Kim Sang-sik to manage U.22 Vietnam.
Mr. Lee Woon-jae, who has just signed a contract with VFF as a goalkeeper coach, came to the stadium to watch and observe the training session of U.22 Vietnam. He is the "extended arm" of coach Kim Sang-sik at all levels of the national team.
Viktor Le was born in 2003 in Moscow, Russia. This midfielder has a Vietnamese father and a Russian mother. According to his profile, Viktor grew up in the CSKA Moscow training center, and is good at playing as an attacking midfielder. Viktor played for Binh Dinh Club in the 2023 season, before moving to Ha Tinh Club.
The players mainly stretched their muscles in this training session, after going through a busy schedule.
Vietnam U.22 will participate in two major tournaments in 2025, which are the 2026 U.23 Asian qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games. These tournaments are expected to become stepping stones for young players to mature, thereby affirming their position in the Vietnam national team.
