On the evening of March 28, speaking with Dan Viet reporter, Mr. Luong Tien Quynh, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Moc Chau district, Son La province confirmed that hail had just occurred in the area between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Hail appeared in Moc Chau town and Moc Chau Farm town and some neighboring communes with strong intensity, especially in Moc Chau Farm town, hail occurred in 2 waves: Wave 1 from 13:00 to 13:15; Wave 2 from 16:00 to 16:20; the hailstones had diameters from 1 to 2cm.
Hail, heavy rain and strong winds affected about 2,500 hectares of fruiting plums in the sub-regions of Pa Khen, Ta Loong, Cho Long, Mia Duong, Ban On..., with no damage to people or houses.

Sharing with reporters, Mr. Hang A Tru, Pa Khen sub-district, Moc Chau Farm town, said: This afternoon, there were 2 hailstorms. The first one was light rain, happened at 13:00, light rain. The second one at 15:00, hail with diameter as big as a toe accompanied by strong wind.
"My family has two plum gardens. The hail caused over 90% of the family's plum trees to fall off in one garden with more than 100 plum trees; about 50% of the plum trees in the other garden fell off," said A Tru.

After the hailstorm occurred in the area, Moc Chau district directed communes and towns to review the damage, guide and support households to overcome the consequences.
According to forecasts, the weather is showing unusual developments. The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Moc Chau district requires communes and towns to regularly update the weather situation to inform and guide people to proactively prevent and minimize damage. At the same time, prepare forces, materials and means on site to promptly deploy rescue operations, minimizing damage to people and property.
