About 170km from Hanoi and about 35km from Moc Chau town center, To Bo peak (Long Luong commune, Van Ho district, Son La province) in Moc Chau National Tourist Area is one of the cloud hunting destinations that has attracted visitors in recent years.
Located at an altitude of nearly 1,200m above sea level, To Bo peak is cool and fresh all year round with poetic and beautiful scenery. This place has also become a favorite camping coordinate for many travel enthusiasts, who come to experience and "heal".
Compared with cloud hunting locations right in the center of Moc Chau town, the clouds in To Bo are thicker, longer and more beautiful.
Mr. Quang Kien (born in 1995, local photographer) said that the road to To Bo peak is quite difficult, with many dirt, rocky and steep sections. Visitors should avoid going early in the morning because of the fog and slippery conditions.
He advises tourists to choose motorbikes with strong engines to climb to the top safely and absolutely not to go on rainy days because the dirt road, slippery slopes, are very dangerous.
The journey to To Bo peak is quite difficult, but visitors will be rewarded with beautiful, wild and poetic scenery.
Tourists come to To Bo peak to hunt clouds
According to Mr. Kien, the best time to hunt clouds at To Bo peak is from January to March of the solar calendar.
In addition, visitors can still hunt clouds all year round here if they know how to "watch" the weather. If it rains heavily the night before, the next day when the sun comes out, there will be a thick and beautiful sea of clouds. On days when cold air flows in and the humidity is high, it is also easier to hunt clouds.
“Tourists should follow weather forecasts or contact locals to ensure accurate information updates and have a smooth trip here,” said 9X.
To Bo Peak is a favorite cloud hunting spot in Son La in recent years.
At To Bo peak, in addition to cloud hunting, visitors can also camp, stay overnight and organize attractive outdoor barbecue parties.
In particular, here, visitors can almost experience the weather of 4 seasons in just one day. In the morning, the weather is warm like spring, at noon it turns to hot sun like summer, in the afternoon it is cool like autumn and gradually gets colder at night until dawn.
Visitors can camp overnight here, catching the sunrise and sunset moments.
However, To Bo peak is a spontaneous tourist destination, so services such as food, accommodation, etc. have not been exploited and developed. Therefore, visitors coming here need to proactively equip themselves with all necessary items.
If camping overnight, visitors must carefully prepare tents, clothes, food, drinks, lights, etc. to keep warm and ensure a safe, fun, and meaningful trip.
“At To Bo peak, there are currently no tourist services, no entrance fees, and no specific regulations, so visitors can camp for free. However, visitors coming here to experience the experience need to pay attention to maintaining hygiene and the general landscape,” said Mr. Kien.
The peaceful scenery at To Bo peak is suitable as a place to "heal" and "change the air" for visitors from afar.
If you have the opportunity to visit To Bo peak, you can combine checking in at some other attractive tourist destinations in Van Ho district such as: Chieng Khoa waterfall; Tat Nang waterfall, hot spring in Chieng Yen commune; Xuan Nha nature reserve...
In Van Ho, there are currently 5 ethnic groups living together: Mong, Thai, Muong, Kinh, Dao, so when coming here, visitors also have the opportunity to learn about the customs, habits, rituals, costumes, traditional occupations, and housing architecture of the local people.
In addition, visitors should not forget to enjoy attractive dishes and specialties such as stream snails, smoked meat, hill chicken, wild vegetables...
