Attending the announcement ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City were Mr. Duong Duy Lam Vien, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Record Holders Association, Director of the Vietnam Records Institute; Ms. Tran Thu Phuong, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Records Organization.
Mr. Nguyen Tien (born in 1990) is one of the young artists who is running professional art in the field of sand painting, participating in many large and small events across the country.
To set the record, Mr. Nguyen Tien performed a total of 12 types of art including: moving sand painting, glitter painting, water painting (pouring paint), fire painting, water painting, reverse watercolor painting, electric painting, spray painting and knife painting.
Sand paintings are drawn using different materials (coffee beans, cashew nuts, rice grains), and stage performances last from 3 to 7 minutes depending on the material.
While still a student at the University of Architecture in Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Tien went to school and helped out at his family's advertising painting shop. In addition, he invited his classmates to form groups to paint murals, spray paint, airbrush, paint on car bodies, helmets, laptops, etc. to earn extra income.
In 2010, the young artist began to find a strong passion for sand painting. After many years of "rolling around" with the sand painting profession and performing at hundreds of events, Nguyen Tien felt that this type of performance art still had a lot of potential to be exploited.
He began to explore using more materials and different painting methods to diversify his performances. Constantly innovating, Nguyen Tien successfully experimented with a series of new painting performance models: water painting, fire painting, painting with paper cutters, glitter painting, painting with spray paint cans...
