Beyond training high-quality human resources, the Lion Island is creating a comprehensive AI ecosystem where technology is combined with ethics and innovative thinking. With a well-structured education strategy from undergraduate to postgraduate levels, Singapore not only meets the demand for AI human resources but also aims to become a global technology hub.

According to The Straits Times , Singaporean universities are continuously expanding and developing AI human resource training, from bachelor's to master's programs in machine learning and data science, even short-term courses for working people... This reflects the long-term vision of Singaporean education: Turning AI into the "backbone" of the knowledge economy.

Below is a summary of AI training programs at famous autonomous universities in Singapore:

National University of Singapore (NUS)

In 2025, NUS will pilot two new AI-related degree programs, with the National University of Singapore's School of Computing offering a Bachelor of Computing in Artificial Intelligence (B.I.) program covering three key areas of AI: Reasoning and Decision Making, Perception and Language, and Machine Learning.

Additionally, the College of Design and Engineering will offer a Bachelor of Engineering in Robotics and Machine Intelligence, an interdisciplinary program that includes design and analysis, control theory, computer programming, and machine intelligence.

In addition to short courses related to AI certificates, NUS also offers postgraduate programs such as Master of Science in AI and Innovation, Master of Computing in AI, Master of Systems Engineering in AI.

Nanyang Technological University (NTU)

In 2025, NTU promises to launch a bachelor of engineering program in robotics, combining core fields such as mechanics, mechatronics, electronics and AI, creating a solid foundation for the future generation of robotics engineers.

Over the past five years, 3,400 students have enrolled in AI-related undergraduate programmes at NTU's School of Computing and Data Science, cementing the school's position in cutting-edge technology education.

In particular, from 2020, NTU will offer a master's degree in AI science for postgraduates. The school will also offer nine continuing education courses (CETs) on AI for working people from 2021.

It can be said that with strong expansion in AI and robotics training, NTU is expected to be one of the leading centers of technology and innovation in the lion island nation.

Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)

SIT is also one of the pioneers in AI training in Singapore with a bachelor's program in Applied Artificial Intelligence launched in 2022.

The program focuses on machine learning, computer vision and natural language processing, and is expected to graduate its first class of 60 students in 2025.

In addition to undergraduate training, SIT offers a variety of short-term AI courses for working professionals, including both foundational and advanced knowledge such as Core AI and Generative AI.

With a systematic roadmap, SIT is making an important contribution to Singapore's national AI strategy, training high-quality human resources for the 4.0 industrial revolution.

Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)

At the same time, the program emphasizes ethical issues and safeguards, helping students become responsible users and advocates of AI.

In addition, in July 2025, the school will launch the Natural Language Processing (NLP) Foundations for Generative AI course, focusing on providing in-depth technical skills, helping students apply NLP effectively in practice.

In the global AI boom, Singapore has chosen a sustainable path: Making ethics the foundation of its technology training programs. Courses such as AI Safety (SMU) or Generative AI and Ethics equip students with critical thinking about risks and social responsibility, thereby contributing to affirming that a true AI education must go hand in hand with "technical excellence" and "strong ethics", only then will it create technology pioneers capable of shaping a sustainable future.

With its "smart education" strategy, Singapore not only maintains its position as a "technology dragon" but is also developing strongly on the journey to shape the mindset of global digital citizens. This is a breakthrough in the country's educational philosophy.
