Speaking at a career orientation and admissions seminar organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education on the morning of January 5, Department Head Nguyen Thu Thuy said that the Ministry of Education and Training will eliminate early admission in university admissions this year.
Early admission is canceled because candidates with average academic records have passed university entrance exams
Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy said: "Early admission is only beneficial for weak candidates, because with just average academic results, they can be admitted early to university. Meanwhile, the goal of early admission is for outstanding and talented candidates."
According to Ms. Thuy, early admission puts a burden on resources for schools and is also a burden for candidates who have to struggle to submit applications to many different schools to increase their chances of admission.
While that opportunity was given to candidates right in the general admission round with the ability to place an unlimited number of wishes.
After receiving many comments, the drafting board of the admission regulations decided to submit to the Ministry's leaders to remove early admission. Early admission is only a matter of time compared to the high school graduation exam deadline.
When considering general admission according to the Ministry's plan after the exam, all admission methods and candidate data will be applied.
The registration process is the same as every year, that is, registering your desired application on the ministry's admission support system.
This system has full information, test score data, transcripts, scores of individual school exams, international certificates, etc.
"This year, candidates will register for admission after taking the high school graduation exam. Early admission will only be considered with the direct admission method for talented candidates and those with excellent achievements.
Therefore, candidates need to focus on doing well in the high school graduation exam to achieve the highest results, then they will certainly have many opportunities to be admitted to their most desired choice," Ms. Thuy emphasized.
Early admission is only for direct admission of excellent and talented candidates.
Ms. Thuy also added that the Ministry of Education and Training is currently receiving comments on the draft university admission regulations to complete them before officially promulgating them.
The revised regulations only adjust some technical points, bringing convenience to candidates in the recruitment process, especially ensuring fairness for candidates when applying together.
"The principle of the admission regulations is to ensure fairness among candidates and that candidates are admitted to the best possible choice (the choice that candidates most desire and that is suitable to their strengths).
Because previously schools reserved too many quotas for early admission, and there was no scientific analysis to ensure fairness between admission combinations for a training program, this year's regulations will have regulations to ensure stricter early admission.
At that time, the quota for direct admission was very small, only for candidates with outstanding achievements, with important domestic and international awards. The majority of the remaining candidates had to participate in the general admission round according to the general plan of the Ministry of Education and Training," Ms. Thuy emphasized.
Reviewing transcripts must consider the academic results of the entire 12th grade year.
In addition, the Ministry of Education and Training will also have some other technical adjustments in the regulations with the regulation that schools must ensure fairness between admission methods and combinations. That is, when candidates are admitted, their scores must be converted to equivalent values between admission methods and combinations.
If schools consider transcripts, they must use the academic results of the entire 12th grade year, so that students do not neglect their studies in the final semester.
Schools are not allowed to offer too many admission combinations for a major or group of majors. Admission combinations must have at least one important subject, either literature or math, and the weighted score of this subject must account for a certain and important proportion in the combination.
