This afternoon, November 12, Lieutenant Colonel Phung Viet Duc, Deputy Head of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Dak Lak Provincial Police, said that the cause of the large fire that broke out at noon on November 11 in the central area of Buon Ma Thuot City was an electrical problem.
According to Mr. Duc, at around 10:30 am on November 11, people discovered fire coming from the advertising sign of house number 229 Le Hong Phong (Buon Ma Thuot City).
At this time, people used fire extinguishers and water to put out the fire. However, because the billboard was made of flammable materials and was in a high position, the fire was ineffective.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Duc, after receiving the news, the unit mobilized 1 command vehicle, 7 fire trucks, 1 ladder truck and 50 officers and soldiers to the scene. In addition, it coordinated with 30 officers and soldiers of Buon Ma Thuot City Police, local people and forces to control the fire.
When authorities arrived at the scene, the fire had engulfed the front of houses numbered 229 and 231 Le Hong Phong, with a high possibility of spreading to neighboring facilities and houses.
After about 30 minutes of fire fighting and rescue, the fire was basically controlled and did not spread.
The fire completely burned down two houses, number 229 and 231 Le Hong Phong. The house number 233 Le Hong Phong was affected by the heat, causing the advertising signboard to catch fire.
