Unarmed Combat Championship of Military Martial Arts Clubs

(VLO) The tournament was organized by the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army from August 1-11 at the Can Tho City Multi-purpose Gymnasium. There were 504 athletes from 41 martial arts clubs of units, schools, and military commands of provinces and cities participating.
Athletes competed in individual competitions in weight categories of 2 age groups: 18-27 and 28-35 years old. Male athletes competed in 9 weight categories (from 54kg and above) and female athletes competed in 6 weight categories (from 51kg and above). The Organizing Committee awarded 114 medals to athletes with outstanding achievements.
Among them, Lieutenant Nguyen Mai Trinh (Vinh Long Province Military Command) excellently won the gold medal in the women's 57-60kg weight category, age group 28-35 and was 1 of 13 athletes of Military Region 9 to win a gold medal in this tournament.
According to the Military Training Department (General Staff), the martial arts training movement of units throughout the army has been gradually promoted and its quality has been increasingly improved.
This tournament is an opportunity to check and evaluate the results of organizing unarmed combat training of martial arts clubs across the army, to encourage and promote the martial arts training movement, improve the physical strength and health of soldiers, and enhance the fighting strength of the army.
