Vietnam and the attraction of a strategic technology destination

On the morning of March 12, the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Semiconductors (AISC) 2025, organized by Aitomatic and the National Innovation Center (NIC), officially opened in Hanoi.

This is an important international event on the combination of AI and semiconductors, providing opportunities to access information, connect cross-border businesses and affirm Vietnam's role in the global semiconductor and artificial intelligence industry value chain.

In his opening speech, Mr. Vu Quoc Huy, Director of the National Innovation Center, emphasized: The conference on artificial intelligence and semiconductors is a forum for academic exchange, an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its position in the regional technology race.

This event will help domestic enterprises orient their development strategies, improve their innovation capacity and promote sustainable development of the high-tech industry, ” said the Director of the National Innovation Center.

Sharing at the conference, Dr. Christopher Nguyen, founder of Aitomatic, said: “ The efforts of the Vietnamese Government in promoting the development of AI and semiconductors are showing the right direction, in line with the shifting trend of the global technology value chain .”

According to the founder of Aitomatic, Vietnam can become a global AI hub in the next few years, which is one of the reasons why AISC 2025 is held in Vietnam.

Being selected as the venue for AISC 2025 demonstrates the strong interest of the international community, affirming Vietnam's attractiveness as a strategic destination in the high-tech sector.

The combination of national vision and international investment needs of developed economies such as the US, Japan, Korea, etc. has created great attraction for AISC, opening up many important opportunities for the development of the AI and semiconductor industry in Vietnam, ” said Dr. Christopher Nguyen.

New trends driving semiconductors, AI

At the conference, experts discussed new technology trends in the fields of AI and semiconductors, including revolutionizing chip design and manufacturing, the potential of advanced semiconductor architectures, and strategic policies to enhance global cooperation.

According to Ms. Anna Goldie, senior expert in scientific research at Google, chips are the fuel that promotes the development of artificial intelligence. On the other hand, AI can also be used to automate chip design, creating faster and more efficient chips.

That’s why Google is pursuing the trend of using AI to design chips. Initial results show that AI-designed chips have much higher performance than conventional chips. This unit is expecting to be able to create models that automate the design of full-process chips in the near future.

As a representative of Vietnam at the conference, Mr. Bui Hai Quan, Vice Chairman of VPBank, shared his vision on the impact of technology on the financial and banking sector. According to Mr. Quan, future banks will be intelligent, proactive and highly personalized to achieve higher efficiency, more security and more customer focus.

AI-based financial ecosystems not only predict customer needs but also promote financial inclusion, enhance risk management and build deeper customer relationships. The formation of a seamless digital ecosystem will also be an irreversible trend. In the face of new technology trends, VPBank has chosen to master technology instead of simply following the market.

Vietnam is one of the countries with high levels of optimism about AI, according to a survey by Aitomatic. Along with China, Mexico, Peru and India, Vietnamese people are less worried about being replaced or losing their jobs by AI, but believe that this technology will boost economic growth.

According to Dr. Christopher Nguyen, the world is facing a crisis of high-quality professional human resources. In some developed countries, many experts are approaching retirement age, while the population of that country is decreasing, leading to a narrowing of human resources.

In that context, Vietnam's demographic characteristics are attracting the attention of many countries to fill this gap. Emphasizing that this is an opportunity that only appears once in 4,000 years of history, Dr. Christopher Nguyen said that with the available advantages, the young generation of Vietnam needs to participate and lead the AI revolution.
