President Vo Van Thuong welcomed Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Neth Savoeun to visit Vietnam and attend the ceremony to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Vietnam's victory in the war to protect the southwestern border of the Fatherland and the victory of the Cambodian army and people over the genocidal regime (January 7, 1979 - January 7, 2024).
The visit will also take place at the beginning of the new year 2024, further strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries.
The President affirmed that Vietnam consistently values the good traditional friendship with Cambodia and is pleased that the relationship between the two countries is increasingly developing substantially and in depth.
The President highly appreciated Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Neth Savoeun and Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai for delivering two speeches emphasizing the deep, authentic, lively and long-standing relationship between the two countries at the ceremony to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Vietnam's victory in the war to protect the southwestern border of the Fatherland and the victory of the Cambodian army and people over the genocidal regime.
Expressing his gratitude to President Vo Van Thuong for taking the time to meet him, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Neth Savoeun expressed his honor to attend the solemn celebration between the two countries.
The Deputy Prime Minister sent the best New Year greetings from King Norodom Sihamoni, President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Samdech Techo Hun Sen, and Prime Minister Hun Manet to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, and other leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam.
On the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year, the traditional New Year of the Vietnamese people, the Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister sent his best wishes to President Vo Van Thuong and the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam.
The Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister expressed his joy at the good development of the relationship between the two countries, always supporting each other, especially in difficult times, and closely cooperating in all fields, especially socio-economic development.
During the visit, the delegation also worked with a number of Vietnamese authorities, thereby promoting the implementation of cooperation mechanisms between the two countries. The Deputy Prime Minister hoped that the two countries would continue to promote people-to-people exchanges, thereby continuing to foster the relationship between the two countries.

Thanking the Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and giving a positive assessment of the relationship between the two countries, President Vo Van Thuong emphasized that Vietnam always remembers the Cambodian people's sincere and wholehearted assistance in the past struggles to protect the Fatherland as well as in the current cause of national construction and development.
Along with geographical and cultural ties, the people of the two countries have stood side by side against common enemies, overcome difficulties and hardships, and now cooperate for development together.
The President expressed his delight at seeing that Cambodian leaders all have good feelings for Vietnam, wishing to follow in the footsteps of previous generations of leaders and deepen the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
This is demonstrated through recent visits to Vietnam by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Bovor Thipadei Hun Manet, President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Khuon Sudary and many senior leaders of the Cambodian State and Government.
Regarding bilateral cooperation, the President highly appreciated the comprehensive development of bilateral cooperation in all fields, in which bilateral trade turnover reached about 10 billion USD, which is the basis for creating momentum to enhance trade and investment cooperation.
National defense and security cooperation has achieved positive results and is an important pillar, contributing to creating a stable environment for development. People-to-people exchanges, especially in border areas, have been rich, diverse and effective.
The two countries regularly have initiatives to form new cooperation mechanisms through the channels of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly and other organizations.
The President hopes that the Deputy Prime Minister will continue to promote the development of the relationship between the two countries to become stronger and deeper in the future.
On the occasion of the New Year, President Vo Van Thuong sent his best wishes to the leaders and people of Cambodia; believing that under the wise reign of King Norodom Sihamoni, the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) led by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, and the Cambodian Government headed by Prime Minister Hun Manet, Cambodia will continue to develop more strongly, enhancing its position and role in the region and the world.
