On December 30, the Vietnamese Embassy in Havana held a handover ceremony for the Chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Cuba (ACHC) to the Cambodian Ambassador.

At the event, the Ambassadors of Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar and Malaysia in Cuba highly appreciated Vietnam's role when assuming the rotating chairmanship of ACHC for the last 6 months of 2024 in strengthening relations within the bloc and with the host country.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long summarized the activities of the Bloc in the last 6 months of 2024, including organizing events and meeting with local officials to strengthen friendship and solidarity in the ASEAN community, as well as promote understanding between ASEAN and Cuba.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba affirmed its desire to continue to cooperate closely with Cambodia - the next ACHC Chair, as well as all ASEAN member countries in strengthening regional cooperation and solidarity.

Taking over the rotating chairmanship of ACHC, Cambodian Ambassador Chea Thireak pledged to do his utmost to promote the activities of the Committee, thereby strengthening relations with Cuba in all aspects, especially in economics, trade, investment, tourism and culture.

At the event, Ambassadors of ASEAN countries in Cuba (including Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia and Vietnam) and Timor Leste - a country on the path to joining the "common roof" of ASEAN, affirmed the importance of strengthening solidarity within the bloc as well as promoting cooperative relations with Cuba.
