In early March, the water supply project for Lien Son town and Dak Lieng and Dak Nue communes (Lak district) was inaugurated and put into operation, with a scale capable of providing domestic water for nearly 4,600 households in the project area.
After nearly a month of operation, nearly 3,000 households in the project area have registered and had their water pipes connected to their homes. Clean water to the alley has been contributing to quenching the thirst for domestic water, improving people's lives.
Since having clean water, Mrs. H'Bhat Nom's household in Jun village, Lien Son town can use it with peace of mind in their daily life. |
Although her house is located right in the center of Lien Son town (Lak district), for decades, Ms. H'Bhat Nom's family (Jun hamlet) and many other households in the hamlet have struggled to find a source of water for daily use. Because the house is located in a low-lying area, one side is bordered by rice fields, the other side is bordered by Lak lake, the well water source is abundant but heavily contaminated with alum, so it is only used for washing clothes, watering plants, and washing vegetables. As for water for cooking and drinking, they have to use plastic cans to get it from other places, or even store rainwater for daily use. Ms. H'Bhat Nom happily shared that after many years of waiting, clean water was brought to her house last March, from now on she no longer has to worry about finding a source of water for daily use.
Sharing the same joy as many households in Jun hamlet (Lien Son town), nearly 1,400 households in Dak Lieng commune have also quenched their thirst for domestic water. Ms. Chu Thi Hong, in Xom Hue hamlet (Dak Lieng commune) confided that for nearly 50 years, her family has had to live with alum-contaminated water. Every time water is pumped from the well, the fishy smell is very unpleasant, and the utensils also turn yellow due to the heavy alum contamination of the water. Worried about the impact on health, her family had to build a large filter tank to filter the water before use. However, they had to use this water source as a last resort because filtering through the tank only partially limits the impurities in the water. Since having domestic water brought to their home, her family has felt very secure when using it.
In Yuk village (Dak Lieng commune), the pipeline system has also been connected to nearly 100 households. Mr. Y Quy Bdap said that having clean water makes everyone excited. However, because it is still in the testing phase, the water source is not stable, sometimes strong, sometimes weak. Therefore, he hopes that the management and operation unit will have appropriate solutions so that the water source from the project meets the needs of the people.

Representing the investor, Mr. Lu Ngoc Sinh, Director of the Provincial Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board, pledged to continue to coordinate with the operating agency to ensure the project operates effectively and sustainably, providing stable water supply to the people. At the same time, he hoped that people would join hands to protect the project, use water economically and reasonably.
According to the Standing Vice Chairman of the Lak District People's Committee, Vo Thanh Hue, the inauguration and commissioning of the water supply system for Lien Son town, Dak Lieng commune and Dak Nue commune on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Buon Ma Thuot Victory, the liberation of Dak Lak province (March 10, 1975 - March 10, 2025) is a meaningful event for the people of Lak district in general and the people of the project area in particular. Having a clean water source is a great joy for the local people. Clean water is brought to the alleys, people do not have to use polluted water sources, and no longer suffer from water shortages in the dry season.
