Vietnam proposes to strengthen basic research cooperation with Russia

Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat proposed strengthening basic research cooperation with Russia during his visit and working session in this country from September 23 to 28.
Today, September 24, a working delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology led by Minister Huynh Thanh Dat worked with the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education. This is an activity within the framework of Minister Huynh Thanh Dat's visit to Russia from September 23 to 28 at the invitation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of this country. One of the contents proposed by Minister Huynh Thanh Dat to implement the agreements reached in the joint statement between the two ministries is to strengthen cooperation in basic research.

At the meeting, the two sides reviewed the 10-year implementation of the agreement on strategic partnership in the fields of education, science and technology (signed in November 2014), exchanged, discussed and agreed on specific directions and measures to strengthen and deepen the strategic cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Russia in the fields of science, technology and innovation. The two sides also exchanged, discussed and agreed on measures to implement the agreements reached in the joint statement to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership on the basis of the achievements of 30 years of implementing the treaty on the basic principles of Vietnam - Russia friendship, which was approved during the state visit to Vietnam by Russian President Vladimir Putin last June. Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education VI Falkov emphasized that Russia always attaches importance to the issue of cooperation in education, science and technology between the two countries. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the two sides will develop a plan to organize events. Russia proposed and respectfully invited the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, and the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute to participate as co-organizers of this event. Minister Huynh Thanh Dat proposed a number of cooperation orientations and contents such as organizing annual meetings of the Vietnam - Russia Cooperation Committee on Education and Science and Technology, organizing annual selection of joint research cooperation tasks, etc. Minister Huynh Thanh Dat proposed that the two sides strengthen cooperation in basic research, basic research oriented towards application in the fields of natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, especially in the fields of marine sciences and basic sciences. Strengthening the exchange, cooperation and transfer of new technologies suitable to Vietnam's conditions in Russia's strong fields such as materials technology, new energy, environmentally friendly energy and resource saving, information and communication technology, nanotechnology, automation and machine manufacturing, artificial intelligence technology; enhancing the exchange of delegations to participate in major science, technology and innovation events held in the two countries.
