During the summer and weekends, Con Bung is very crowded with tourists. |
Our car ran smoothly from National Highway 53 to National Highway 60 via Co Chien Bridge. Co Chien Bridge spans the Co Chien River connecting Mo Cay Nam District (Ben Tre) with Cang Long District (Tra Vinh). Co Chien Bridge contributes to promoting economic development and expanding cultural exchange for coastal provinces in the Mekong Delta region.
Located about 70km from Ben Tre city, Con Bung beach (Thanh Phu beach) is the choice of tourists during the summer. Ms. Le Thi Tam (Huu Thanh commune, Tra On district) said: “Here, my family explores the wildness of Con Bung beach, learns about the historical relic of the unnumbered train, learns about the lives of people living by fishing here…”. “Con Bung has fresh seafood and cheap prices. You can choose fresh chu u and octopus yourself,” Ms. Tam added.
According to the people living in this land, "with a shape similar to a land bank, this beach is called Con Bung". Con Bung is one of the beaches that still retains its original wildness.
We arrived at Con Bung beach very early, the fishing boats were returning after their fishing trips. Tourists were standing on the shore waiting to buy seafood from the fishing boats that brought their “results” to shore. There were fresh crabs, crabs, octopuses, fish… The tourists were free to choose. Ms. Ly, a tourist, was choosing live octopuses that were wriggling, saying: “I really like coming here to freely swim in the sea and buy fresh, cheap seafood and enjoy it at the sea.”
Mr. Huynh Xuyen with a gas stove at the beach. He receives seafood from tourists, steams, boils... with a salary of about 20,000 VND/kg. Mr. Xuyen said he has been doing this job for 2 years, with an average income of about 400,000-500,000 VND/day.
