Enrollment for Grade 1 and Grade 6 in Ho Chi Minh City: Creating conditions for students to study near home

The Department of Education and Training will advise the City People's Committee to create conditions for first and sixth graders to study near their residence during the 2025-2026 primary school enrollment season.

Accordingly, the enrollment work for the 2025-2026 school year will be carried out flexibly. Specifically, the Department of Education and Training will advise the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, districts and towns to build the enrollment area based on three factors.

The first is the distribution of schools in the locality; The second is the number of children of admission age; The third is the information on the "current residence" of students from the industry database.

In addition, units will combine the use of the city's shared digital map system to calculate students' travel distances.

The allocation of study places will not follow the administrative boundaries of wards, in order to create conditions for students to study near their current residence and in accordance with the actual local situation.

"For some schools located on the border between localities, districts will develop appropriate admission plans for the first level, creating favorable conditions for students to study near their place of residence," said the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.

This year, the enrollment work for primary schools in Ho Chi Minh City is still carried out online at https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn, through the student's identification code and in compliance with the instructions of the Department of Education and Training.

Priority in primary school admission

The Department of Education and Training also informed that it is expected that the department will propose priority subjects in primary school admission as follows:

For grade 1: students have "current residence" within the locality and age limit.

For grade 6: students have "current residence" local, have completed primary school and are of the prescribed age.

Units will also develop regulations for primary school admission for students who wish to study in areas other than their actual residence.
