A representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that they are building a "Vietnam National Pavilion" on the e-commerce platform Alibaba.com and will recruit 100 businesses to be present.
Sharing information at the seminar on promoting exports through e-commerce platforms organized by Industry and Trade Magazine on the morning of October 19 in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Duong, Deputy Director of the Center for Information Technology Application and Digital Transformation in Trade Promotion - Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade), said: The Trade Promotion Agency is coordinating with the Alibaba.com e-commerce platform to build and develop the "Vietnam National Pavilion" - Vietnam Pavilion on the Alibaba.com e-commerce platform. The purpose is to introduce and promote Vietnamese products to international customers, promoting the export of Vietnamese products to the world.

Mr. Duong said that this e-commerce platform has a lot of potential for export enterprises because it has more than 260 million users, 47 million buyers, and businesses in over 200 countries and territories. That is the reason why the Trade Promotion Agency decided to cooperate with this platform.
According to the plan, the “Vietnam National Pavilion” on the Alibaba.com e-commerce platform will gather 100 typical participating enterprises. The Trade Promotion Agency and the Alibaba.com e-commerce platform are preparing to select 100 typical enterprises to be present at the Vietnam National Pavilion in December 2023.

However, according to Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Uyen, Marketing Director of Alibaba.com Vietnam Co., Ltd., the biggest difficulty for Vietnamese businesses when participating in international e-commerce platforms is the language barrier, lack of marketing skills, use of available marketing tools on the platform... leading to the failure to promote and make good use of the digital tools provided by the platforms to reach more customers.
Another point, according to Ms. Phuong Uyen, is the logistics issue. “Sometimes the product does not guarantee delivery time and delivery progress, leading to transactions being affected,” Ms. Phuong Uyen said.
However, at the seminar, experts said that if Vietnamese enterprises focus on researching and exploiting e-commerce platforms more strongly to reach more customers around the world, there is still a lot of room for export (especially for small and medium enterprises).
In fact, the export value through e-commerce is increasing rapidly over the years. In 2022, Vietnam's export value through e-commerce only reached more than 80,000 billion VND. But it is expected that Vietnam's export turnover through e-commerce can reach nearly 300,000 billion VND by 2027. Vietnamese enterprises, especially small and medium enterprises, will have the opportunity to succeed in this market if they approach it systematically and build a long-term strategy.
