According to SF, on March 17, this helicopter was allegedly trying to drop a reconnaissance and sabotage group to carry out a new cross-border attack on the Kozinka settlement in Russia's Belgorade region. However, the aircraft was repelled by the 138th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade (Russia). The new 9K333 Verba portable air defense system was used in this attack.
A video posted on social media shows the wreckage of a downed helicopter burning near the Russian border. Sources say the downed helicopter could be a UH-60A Black Hawk made in the United States or a Soviet-made Mi-24.
Ukraine has lost several combat aircraft in recent months. Last week, Russian missile strikes destroyed two Mi-8/17s belonging to Kiev forces at a makeshift airfield near the front line in the Donetsk region.
Citing a statement from the Russian Defense Ministry on March 16, Sputnik reported that Russian armed forces repelled an incursion by a group of Ukrainian soldiers who attempted to raid the village of Kozinka in Russia's Belgorod border region.
According to local authorities, the attempt to prevent Russian border infiltration was successful and the “sabotage group” was destroyed.
Kiev has not yet responded to the information released by Russia.
Previously, Moscow said that from March 12 to 14, Ukrainian troops attempted to attack Russia's border regions of Belgorod and Kursk.
On March 17, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Ukraine launched 36 drones targeting various regions of Russia, including the capital Moscow.
Russian air defense forces "intercepted and destroyed" four drones in Moscow and Yaroslavl, three in Belgorod and Kursk, two in Kaluga, one each in Rostov, Oryol, Bryansk and 17 in the skies over Krasnodar Krai.
One of the Ukrainian drones caused a fire at an oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai.
