RIA news agency reported that, answering reporters on March 9 when asked whether the order to temporarily suspend sharing intelligence information with Ukraine could be lifted, US President Donald Trump replied: "We almost did (lift the order to temporarily suspend providing intelligence information)."
Besides, the US leader affirmed that the country "wants to do whatever it can to make Ukraine seriously do something".
The move comes as Washington and Kiev are set to hold highly anticipated talks on March 11 to resolve the three-year conflict in Ukraine, after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his US counterpart Donald Trump had an unhappy meeting at the White House late last month.
Mr. Zelenksy is expected to travel to Saudi Arabia and meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the de facto leader of the Arab country, on March 10, after which the Ukrainian President's team will "stay to meet with the US side on March 11."
At the talks, scheduled to take place in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah, Washington wants to “lay out the framework for a peace deal as well as an initial ceasefire,” according to US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.
Mr Zelensky said Ukraine was “fully committed to constructive dialogue”, but wanted its interests to be “properly considered”. According to the leader, Ukraine hopes for results, both in terms of bringing peace and continued support.
The US State Department said Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Jeddah on March 10. Mr. Mike Waltz, National Security Advisor to US President Donald Trump, confirmed that he will attend this meeting.
Meanwhile, the British newspaper The Times reported that London is advising Kiev to hold talks with Washington in Saudi Arabia to avoid a new dispute between the two sides.
The newspaper said that over the weekend, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's national security adviser, Jonathan Powell, traveled to Ukraine to advise Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky before Kiev representatives participated in negotiations with the US on March 11.
According to the newspaper, Mr Starmer's advisers have advised Mr Zelensky to make it clear to the US side that the Ukrainian leader is meeting Washington's demands so that US President Donald Trump has the impression that "Russia is the main obstacle to peace".
