(NADS) - The painting and sculpture exhibition - Night of Love is organized with the aim of raising a "Scholarship Fund" to help develop artistic talents.
Established 15 years ago, Dominiart is the brainchild of Father Giuse Pham Hung Thinh in his passion for pursuing Sacred art.
With the desire to spread Sacred art to everyone, on Christmas 2023, Ba Chuong Church organized an exhibition called "Night of Love" to raise "Scholarship Fund".
2009 was the first year of organizing an exhibition with the theme "Homeless Winter Night". The purpose of this exhibition was to display and sell works to raise funds for charity to help the poor and homeless people wandering the streets on New Year's Eve.
In the past two years, the Fund has changed its purpose and direction. The Dominican Fine Arts Association will contribute 50% of the proceeds from the sale of artists' paintings to the "Scholarship Fund" so that those in difficult circumstances who do not have the conditions to develop their artistic talents.
Sharing about the purpose of this year's exhibition, Ms. Maria Vo Thi Bich Ngan - Secretary of Dominican Fine Arts - Dominiart said: "According to tradition, every year at Christmas, the Association organizes an exhibition to spread the sacred art and raise charity funds from the works displayed. As Catholic fine arts, it still retains the Catholic essence to spread the good news, but still welcomes non-Catholic artists to contribute to enriching the exhibition. When it was founded, there were only 5-7 participants, but later many people knew about it and it has developed until now."
This exhibition of religious paintings and sculptures brings together 67 Painters, 2 Sculptors and 1 Late Artisan with many works of many shades and materials, from oil painting, lacquer, paper paintings, bronze statues... Diverse in size, color and style but all towards the theme of "Christmas".
As one of the artists participating in this year's exhibition, artist Thang Nguyen expressed: "My painting style is to depict the five senses, using intricate interwoven lines and adding splashes of paint to create blocks. These are two works that fit the main theme of this exhibition, which is Prayer and Pope Francis' Blessing, because each work is drawn from a different inspiration, and I am satisfied with each work. As a Catholic, fundraising or donating to build churches is the right thing to do."
The Painting and Sculpture Exhibition - Love Night 2023 not only creates a "Scholarship Fund" to help develop artistic talents but also brings Catholic art closer to viewers.
