Deploying tourism work and UNESCO Global Geopark Non Nuoc Cao Bang in 2025

On the afternoon of March 21, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DOCST) held a conference to deploy tourism work and the UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark (GGP) in 2025.

Attending the conference were comrade Trinh Truong Huy, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Sub-Committee on implementing breakthrough content on developing provincial tourism services; leaders of a number of departments, branches and localities.

In 2024, tourism planning and investment in the province will be given importance. Tourism planning will be implemented in a comprehensive manner and in line with local socio-economic development planning; investment incentives will be promoted for projects in the list of projects calling for investment in the province for the period 2022 - 2025. Tourism products will be invested in, and a number of new and unique tourism products will be built, basically meeting market demand. Attention will be paid to the preservation, restoration and promotion of cultural values associated with tourism development. Tourism service business activities will change towards professionalism and quality.

The work of building, preserving and developing the Geopark has achieved many positive results; successfully coordinated the organization of the 8th International Conference of the UNESCO Global Geopark Network in the Asia-Pacific region in 2024, leaving a good impression on international organizations and localities of other provinces. The work of ensuring the tourism environment is regularly inspected and monitored. Tourism human resources are gradually supplemented, the quality of human resources is gradually improved.

Total number of visitors is estimated at 1,834,730, down 5.68% over the same period, reaching 83.4% of the plan. Of which, international tourists are estimated at 49,097, up 43% over the same period, reaching 49.1% of the plan; domestic tourists are estimated at 1,790,846, down 6.2% over the same period, reaching 85.3% of the plan. Total tourism revenue is estimated at 1,466 billion VND, up 9.8% over the same period, reaching 97.8% of the plan. Room occupancy rate is estimated at 48.5%.

In 2025, the Subcommittee will continue to strengthen the leadership of local Party committees and authorities, and the close direction of the Steering Committee to create consensus and consistency for the Tourism - Service Subcommittee in the process of organizing and implementing tasks; strengthen propaganda, management, inspection and supervision of tourism activities; encourage localities and enterprises to strengthen cooperation, promote promotion, attract investment, and develop new products; implement communication activities to support the development of rural tourism, ethnic minority and mountainous areas; call for investment according to the list of investment projects in the fields of tourism, trade and services; continue to research and develop unique tourism products; build and effectively implement the plan for the construction and development of the UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark in the period of 2026 - 2030, the task of re-evaluating the title of Geopark in 2025; Continue to promote digital transformation in the tourism sector, strengthen cooperation in tourism human resource training, to improve the quality of tourism human resource training and development courses.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trinh Truong Huy requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, all levels, sectors, localities, business communities, business households, and tourism services to continue to remove difficulties, improve the quality of tourism services; preserve and promote national cultural identity associated with tourism development; study Cao Bang tourism planning. It is necessary to identify typical, unique, potential, and strong tourism products associated with Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Geopark to urgently have solutions to support and encourage organizations, businesses, and individuals to invest. Strengthen the connection of accommodation and service points, develop OCOP products in the tourism routes and experiences of the Geopark; strengthen digital transformation of tourism, create more new, unique, attractive tourism products to attract tourists, promote Cao Bang tourism to become a spearhead economic sector, in the spirit of the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025; Prepare to successfully implement the 16th "Through the Viet Bac Heritage Sites" tourism program hosted by the province...

Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded certificates of merit to collectives with many contributions to the development of provincial tourism in 2024.

On this occasion, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism commended 5 collectives and 5 individuals who have made many contributions to the development of provincial tourism in 2024; awarded certificates to 14 official partners of the UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark for the period 2022 - 2025.
