The subjects posted information on social networks about recruiting workers with salaries of 15-20 million VND/month, signed labor contracts, comfortable work of only 8-10 hours/day,... to lure victims into the trap, then trick them into human trafficking to Cambodia.

The Provincial People's Court tried three defendants for human trafficking.

The Provincial People's Court has just tried three subjects, Le Van Loi (born in 1997), Duong Minh Canh (born in 2004) and Pham Van Nhut (born in 1996), all residing in Phung Hiep district, for human trafficking, in which defendant Loi is considered the ringleader in the case.

Working on computer, salary 20 million VND

The case file shows that around February 2022, Le Van Loi, residing in Tan Hung Hamlet, Bung Tau Town, Phung Hiep District, was working as a hired worker in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City. At that time, Loi went to a job introduction page on Facebook to comment when a person named Tuan (identity unknown) texted Loi.

Tuan asked Loi to go to Cambodia to work, with promises of "just need to know how to type, work for a game company, salary 850 USD/month, have a car to pick you up from Vietnam to Cambodia, no need to prepare documents, all exit expenses will be paid by the company".

Seeing the sweet promises, Loi agreed to go. After that, Tuan and Loi became friends on Zalo to arrange a car to pick Loi up. After working in Cambodia for about 4 days, Loi learned that Tuan had tricked and sold him to Rick Word Company in Cambodia, and forced him to do the job of defrauding customers through the Shopee app...

At that time, contrary to the original promises, Loi had to work 12-13 hours a day, without a lunch break, had to continue working after lunch, and was not allowed to leave the company after work hours. If he was discovered sneaking out, he would be beaten. Although he felt this was against his will, Loi did not dare to object and continued working according to the company's requirements.

When he started working for Rick Word Company, Loi was assigned by the company to defraud an amount of 300-500 million VND per month. It is worth mentioning that during this time, Loi used deceitful tricks to trick 7 people he knew to go to Cambodia to work with the same invitations of "easy work, high salary" as before Loi was deceived by Tuan.

Among them, there were Duong Minh Canh, Pham Van Nhut and 4 other victims, to receive commissions of 50 USD/person. After being tricked by Loi to go to Cambodia, Canh and Nhut continued to use the same tricks as Loi to continue to trick a number of other victims to receive commissions, then fled back to Vietnam.

Always be alert to human trafficking crimes

In recent times, human trafficking crimes such as the Le Van Loi case have become a problem, causing outrage in the whole society. The actions of these subjects have directly violated the lives, health, honor and dignity of citizens, and the subjects affected are mainly women and young people without stable jobs, who desire easy work and high salaries.

According to the Department of Investigation of Social Order Crimes, Provincial Police, the subjects of human trafficking crimes can be strangers, friends or acquaintances, even relatives. Criminals use the trick of posting recruitment ads for foreign companies on social networking sites.

Through that, they introduce themselves as working for companies or having relatives or acquaintances working here with light work, high salary, only need to know how to use a computer, no need to be proficient, working on game apps, dating apps with high income from 18-20 million VND/month and receive additional commission when exceeding targets.

When workers need to go to work, the company abroad will arrange transportation without having to pay for travel expenses, but mainly organize for victims to illegally exit the country at border gates in the provinces of An Giang, Kien Giang, Tay Ninh, Long An...

After being sold to companies, victims are exploited for their labor, working overtime (from 12-16 hours/day) on fraudulent apps to gain illegal profits for the company. In particular, they are tortured, beaten, deprived of civil and human rights, leading to mental breakdown, fear, or from being victims, they become human traffickers.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Deputy Head of the Department of Prosecution and Investigation Supervision, Criminal Trial Supervision, Provincial People's Procuracy, prosecutor in the case of Le Van Loi, said that the investigation process of the case showed that if the work was not effective, the victims would be sold to many different companies.

If they want to return to their home country, victims must pay up to 100 million VND to the subjects in Cambodia. In addition, in many cases, families of victims who want to find their relatives have to spend money to find brokers to redeem the victims who were trafficked back. In particular, relatives who are looking for their family members are at risk of becoming victims of human traffickers or other criminals.

In reality, to combat human trafficking, along with the vigilance of the people, the authorities need to take stronger action to grasp the situation, promote propaganda, have plans to prevent and strictly handle cases. From there, do a good job of deterrence, education and effective prevention against this dangerous crime.
