Bringing Hau Giang OCOP products far and wide

Hau Giang province will rearrange the province's key product groups to have investment mechanisms and policies, helping OCOP products reach further.

According to the Office of Coordination of National Target Programs of Hau Giang province, among the province's 348 OCOP products recognized with 3 to 4 stars, the agricultural food group accounts for more than 60%.

In addition, specialized sectors also regularly provide consulting support to entities on packaging designs, building clean raw material areas, agricultural products that stand firm in the market, and key products of the province.

Recently, the OCOP Product Evaluation and Classification Council of Long My town recognized 9 more OCOP products in 2024, bringing the total number of OCOP products with 3 to 4 star quality in the town to 45 products after nearly 4 years of implementing the OCOP Program. In particular, products recognized as meeting 4-star standards in the OCOP program not only increase product value but also contribute to promoting local economic development. This recognition helps affirm the brand of Long My town's agricultural products, while also motivating producers and cooperatives to continue to improve and innovate.

According to the leader of Long My Town People's Committee, in recent times, the local government has actively supported businesses and cooperatives in the process of improving product quality, from production to processing and consumption. The close cooperation between stakeholders has created a favorable environment for the development of OCOP products. In the coming time, Long My Town plans to continue implementing technical support and training programs for manufacturers to further improve product quality. In particular, trade promotion and advertising of OCOP products to domestic and international markets will be more focused on so that the OCOP products of the town and the province can reach further.

Similarly, Mr. Le Hoang Le, Vice Chairman of Phung Hiep District People's Committee, said that from 2018 to 2020, the district's OCOP Program has just begun to flourish. When the Prime Minister directed, the district included it in the resolution of the District Party Congress for the period 2020-2025. Accordingly, each year the district strives to have 7-8 OCOP products. After that, the District People's Committee issued a plan to implement this goal. From here, each year the district develops 7-8 products, some years about 10 products. Currently, out of 50 OCOP products of the district, 23 products have achieved 3 stars, the rest are 4 stars. Notably, there are 4 products being proposed by the Central Government to be nominated for 5 stars.

In recent times, to support the OCOP Program, the People's Committee of Phung Hiep district has regularly sent officials to work with cooperatives and establishments identified as the district's strengths to advise entities to participate with the district in making OCOP products. From here, the entities have enthusiastically responded to the development of OCOP products. "Every year, the district organizes a summary of the OCOP Program to compete and reward units with high-winning products, thereby encouraging and motivating the entities. In particular, for the two expressways that will be put into operation in the near future that pass through the district, the People's Committee of Phung Hiep district will cooperate with rest stops to introduce the district's OCOP products to customers" - Mr. Le informed.

Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen - Permanent Vice Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for National Target Programs for the period 2021-2025 of the province - affirmed that in the coming time, the Steering Committee will promote the application of science and technology, innovation and improvement of processing technology. The province will review and develop standards and regulations for OCOP products to meet the regulations of the domestic and export markets. At the same time, promote the application of solutions on protection and effective exploitation of intellectual property values ​​such as geographical indications, collective trademarks, and certification trademarks for the province's OCOP products so that these products can reach further.

Talking about solutions to help the province's OCOP products reach further in the coming time, Mr. Huynh Thanh Huu, Chief of the Office of Coordination of National Target Programs of Hau Giang province, said that the province will focus on a number of tasks such as: Propagating and providing in-depth training for subjects to clearly understand the process and procedures of the Evaluation Criteria Set; mobilizing capital sources to support subjects; providing consulting support for difficult contents that need time for subjects to do immediately.

At the same time, rearrange the province's key industries so that the subjects can improve their products more and more perfectly. At the same time, regularly monitor and inspect the activities of OCOP subjects to have appropriate support and correction directions. Local leaders actively pay attention to supporting and consulting subjects in maintaining and developing OCOP products. Especially promote the application of digital technology in production activities such as: management and production; sales and marketing; product connection.

Also according to Mr. Huynh Thanh Huu, in the near future, the Office of Coordination of National Target Programs of Hau Giang province will advise the Provincial People's Committee to direct localities to focus on product groups with advantages and large potential.

In particular, focus on groups of traditional industries and craft villages; groups of rural community tourism products. Rearrange the group of outstanding and key foods of the province to have appropriate investment policies and mechanisms, helping Hau Giang OCOP products to reach further. "In addition, the subjects need to focus on researching and developing typical products; applying modern technology in production, building brands, linking and cooperating in the community; training and improving the capacity of the production community" - Mr. Huu suggested.
