On the internet, there are currently a number of websites providing information aimed at Vietnamese users with the form of operation as a page sharing comments and reviews about domestic companies but "transformed" into a place to slander and defame the honor and reputation of individuals and businesses. According to the Vietnam Digital Communications Association (VDCA), such websites show signs of violating the law on management, provision and use of internet services and online information as stipulated in Decree 72/2013/ND-CP.
The Facebook platform also has many similar groups with tens of thousands of members, allowing participants to post anonymously with mostly negative content, insulting individuals and businesses, violating ethical and cultural standards. Specifically, including: Posting content that insults the honor, dignity, and reputation of companies; Creating fake news, defaming, slandering, and insulting the honor of many officers and employees, leading to internal conflicts within companies; Information about businesses and individuals that has not been verified.
"In particular, according to the feedback from VDCA member businesses, the admins of some pages/groups require businesses to pay if they want to remove negative content posted," the latest announcement from VDCA clearly stated. Preliminary statistics from the unit show that there are 2 websites operating as social networks and 11 Facebook groups with the above defamatory acts.
VDCA has also sent a petition to the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Information and Communications) to handle social networks that rate unlicensed businesses and do not verify information.
Previously, on June 14, the Vietnam Digital Content Creation Alliance (DCCA) also sent a document to VDCA after receiving complaints from many members about the website reviewcongty.me operating without permission in the form of a social network, allowing users to share a lot of false information about businesses without verification. By June 19, the above address was blocked.
