President-elect Donald Trump is searching for a nominee for Treasury Secretary after the selection process stalled over the weekend.
Among the candidates being considered are Marc Rowan, CEO of Apollo Global Management, and Kevin Warsh, former Governor of the US Federal Reserve (Fed).
Billionaire investor John Paulson was once considered a leading candidate, but he withdrew from the "race" last week, citing "complex financial obligations."
Investor Scott Bessent has emerged as the leading candidate, while banking titan Howard Lutnick is also being considered.

Mr. Bessent is being considered for a role on the National Economic Council but is still awaiting a final decision on the position of finance minister, Bloomberg reported.
Warsh, 54, is a research fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution and is known for his hard-line views on inflation and budget deficits. He previously worked at Morgan Stanley and served as an economic adviser to the White House from 2002 to 2006. He was then appointed Fed Governor by former President George W. Bush in 2006, before leaving the post in 2011.
Marc Rowan, currently CEO of Apollo Global Management, has led the firm to become one of the world's largest investors in alternative assets such as corporate credit and private equity.
The Treasury Secretary is one of the most important cabinet positions, overseeing the nation’s financial and economic policies. The selection process for the position is currently attracting great attention from international investors and Wall Street.
Mr. Scott Bessent has received public endorsements from prominent figures such as Senator Lindsey Graham, investor Kyle Bass and conservative economist Steve Moore.
Mr. Bass emphasized that Mr. Bessent is the best person because of his extensive experience in the areas of financial markets, global money flows and the federal budget.
Meanwhile, Mr. Howard Lutnick also received support from Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Mr. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was nominated by Mr. Trump to head the Department of Health and Human Services.
According to a source, Donald Trump is also considering Mr. Lutnick for the position of Secretary of Commerce, and former US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer is also on the list of considerations for this position.
The choice of Treasury Secretary continues to be the focus of attention as Mr. Trump prepares to take office in January 2025.
