Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong has made many great and important contributions to the revolutionary cause of our Party and people, especially in the cause of innovation, building and defending the Fatherland.
On the afternoon of July 18, the Party and State solemnly presented the Gold Star Order to comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, in recognition of his great and especially outstanding contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
Previously, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was awarded the 55-year Party membership badge, recognizing his contributions to the cause of building an increasingly clean and strong Party.
The people at home and international friends always have respect and love for the General Secretary.
National and ethnic interests are paramount.
Having held many important positions assigned by the Party, State and people such as: Member of the Party Central Committee from the 7th to the 13th tenure; Member of the Politburo from the 8th to the 13th tenure; Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine; Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Chairman of the National Assembly; President; General Secretary from the 11th to the 13th tenure, comrade Nguyen Phu Trong has made many great and important contributions to the revolutionary cause of our Party and people, especially in the cause of innovation, building and defending the Fatherland.
As General Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, together with the Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, created a high level of unity in the political system with the spirit of "support from the front and the rear, one call, all responses, unanimity from top to bottom, and smooth communication across the board," leading the entire Party, people, and army to overcome difficulties and challenges, achieving many very important achievements in various fields, with outstanding marks, making the country's foundation, potential, position, and international prestige increasingly higher and more sustainable, highly appreciated by the people at home and international friends.
Mr. Y Luyen Nie Kdam, a member of the 10th National Assembly and former Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee, said: “As a person with many strong innovations, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s work is loved, respected and admired by the people. Therefore, the country’s situation is stable and people’s lives are developing. These achievements are thanks to the great contributions of the General Secretary in leading and directing specifically to put forth correct policies and guidelines for the country’s development.”
From the perspective of international friends, Vice President of the Tanzania Revolutionary Party Abdulrahman Omar Kinana said: “Under the talented leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam has achieved many outstanding achievements at both the national and international levels; there have been many breakthrough initiatives in Party building, contributing to consolidating a strong Communist Party of Vietnam, better meeting the aspirations of the people. The socio-economic growth has been strong; hunger eradication and poverty reduction are bright spots, making Vietnam one of the world's leading countries in implementing the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.”
Admitted to the Party on December 19, 1967, with nearly 57 years of Party membership, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has always been absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people; in all circumstances, he has always demonstrated the mettle and intelligence of a steadfast communist; steadfast in Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, the goals of national independence and socialism; firmly maintained, promoted and spread pure revolutionary ethics, pioneering and exemplary character, constantly studying, cultivating and training.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong always strives to study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style of "diligence, thrift, integrity, uprightness, impartiality and selflessness"; his working style is close to the grassroots, close to compatriots and comrades; in his work he always demonstrates a high sense of responsibility, a serious attitude, a scientific and decisive working method, upholds principles, promotes democracy, respects and listens to the opinions of cadres, party members and people.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Thuoc, former member of the Party Central Committee, Commander of Military Region 4, and delegate to the 8th, 9th, and 10th National Assembly, commented: “General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has caught the rhythm and gathered the will of the entire Party and the entire people. The direction of the General Secretary at this time is the will and strength of the entire Party and the entire people. The Party must be clean and strong, thereby regaining the trust of the people and Party members in the leadership.”
Professor Nguyen Anh Tri, a delegate of the 14th and 15th National Assembly, expressed: “We are fortunate, honored and proud to have chosen a worthy person on behalf of the people. We also feel extremely confident and hopeful that the country has found a talented, capable and ethical person to lead the country. All of these bases give us deep confidence that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has excellently fulfilled the tasks assigned by the Party and the people.”
As General Secretary, he clearly demonstrated his core leadership role, working with the Central Executive Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat to build solidarity and unity of will and action within the Party.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong paid special attention to defining the strategic vision of the Party and the nation; attached importance to summarizing practices to constantly supplement and perfect the theory of socialism and the path to socialism in our country; regularly directed and reminded the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army to steadfastly apply and creatively develop Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought; steadfastly pursue the goal of national independence and socialism; steadfastly pursue the Party's renewal policy; steadfastly pursue the principles of Party building; ensure the highest national interests to firmly build and defend the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam, determining that this is the fundamental principle and solid foundation of our Party, of vital significance to our regime and our nation, "not allowing anyone to waver or waver."
Persistently and resolutely build a clean and strong Party
Over the past years, the people, cadres and party members have been very happy, excited and have increased their trust in the Party and State when witnessing the very resolute policies and measures of our Party and State led by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Regarding the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity, with great political determination, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has directed resolutely, persistently, synchronously, comprehensively, systematically, in-depth, with breakthroughs, linking the prevention and combating of corruption and negativity with the building and rectification of the Party and the political system. Many thoughts, viewpoints, guiding principles, and principles of action in preventing and combating corruption and negativity initiated and directed by the General Secretary have been effective, confirmed through practice, bringing many valuable lessons, both theoretically and practically.
Associate Professor, Dr. Ly Viet Quang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Institute and Party Leaders, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics emphasized: “General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has raised the political determination of the Party and State to have an uncompromising attitude towards embezzlement, corruption and negative phenomena. This is clearly demonstrated in the work of preventing and combating corruption, there are no forbidden areas, including those in high positions, even in the Politburo, if they violate, they will be strictly disciplined. This clearly shows the unity, acceptance, application and thorough understanding of Ho Chi Minh's thought on preventing and combating corruption.”
The fight against corruption and negativity continues to be carried out vigorously, with many new, in-depth, synchronous and effective methods. The Central Steering Committee on Corruption Prevention and Control has been supplemented and expanded in its functions and tasks, including directing the prevention and control of corruption and the prevention and control of negativity; the focus is on preventing and combating the degradation of political ideology, ethics and lifestyle among cadres and party members, considering this the root of all problems. At the same time, the Provincial Steering Committee on Corruption Prevention and Control has also been established in all 63 provinces and cities across the country and put into operation, with initial good results, gradually overcoming the situation of "hot above, cold below."
The work of building and perfecting institutions and policies on socio-economic management and preventing and combating corruption and negativity has also been promoted to gradually move towards: "not daring", "not able", "not wanting", "not needing" corruption. The improvement of the organizational apparatus and administrative reform ensures publicity and transparency. The quality, efficiency of operations and coordination between agencies and functional units in preventing and combating corruption and negativity have been improved. Information, propaganda and education on preventing and combating corruption and negativity have made much progress.
The Party's inspection, supervision and discipline work continues to be innovated and strengthened on the basis of issuing quality regulations and organizing the strict and synchronous implementation of many new regulations, contributing to restraining, preventing and repelling the degradation of political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party; corruption, "group interests," "term-based thinking," "individualism," and "power degeneration" among a significant number of cadres and Party members. At the same time, the Party's leadership capacity and fighting strength are improved, solidarity and unity within the Party are strengthened, people's trust is consolidated, political stability, discipline, order and social security are maintained, and socio-economic development is promoted.
Mr. Duong Quang Phai, former Head of the Research Department, Central Inspection Committee emphasized: “Since comrade Nguyen Phu Trong became General Secretary, our country has had many changes in both socio-economic and political aspects, in the context of unpredictable changes in the world situation. This is the merit of the entire Party and the entire people, including the great contribution of the head of our Party. Especially in the fight against corruption, the General Secretary, as Head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, has done a lot, not letting cases sink, including cases related to high-ranking leaders of the Party and State.”
In daily life, he always lived simply, modestly, exemplary, sincerely, worthy of being a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam, truly a typical example for cadres and party members to follow.
Whenever he wants to speak his mind, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong often repeats a few lines from the famous work "How the Steel Was Tempered" by Soviet writer Nikolai Ostrovsky: "The most precious thing for a human being is life and the honor of living, because a person only lives once. We must live so as not to feel pain or regret for the years we have lived in vain, wasted; so as not to be ashamed of mean, cowardly actions, and being despised by everyone; so that when we close our eyes, we can be proud that: All my life, all my strength, I have devoted to the most noble cause in the world - the cause of fighting for national liberation, human liberation, bringing happiness to the people!"./.
