Social insurance situation in Ho Chi Minh City in the first 5 months of 2023

On June 14, Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance (HCMSSI) held a press conference to provide information on the implementation of social insurance policies in the first 5 months of the year.

Mr. Lo Quan Hiep, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance, said that in the first 5 months of the year, Ho Chi Minh City had more than 2.4 million people participating in compulsory social insurance, reaching 88.53% of the assigned plan, up 3.7% over the same period last year. At the same time, there were more than 31,665 people participating in voluntary social insurance (reaching 39.65%), up 12.85% over the same period last year.

Director of Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance Lo Quan Hiep informed about the situation of social insurance participation in the first 5 months of the year.

As of May 31, 54% of the workforce in Ho Chi Minh City participated in social insurance and 84% of the population had health insurance.

In addition, the accumulated social insurance revenue from the beginning of the year is more than 32,899 billion VND; the amount of late payment of social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance is more than 3,956 billion VND.

At the conference, the press was interested in asking questions about issues of delayed social insurance payments, attracting people to participate in voluntary social insurance, the situation of buying and selling social insurance books, etc. Especially, about the issue of withdrawing social insurance at one time.

According to Mr. Lo Quan Hiep, statistics from the beginning of the year until now, Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance has resolved and paid social insurance and unemployment insurance benefits to 548,183 people. Of which, monthly benefits were resolved for 2,835 people, one-time benefits for 52,037 people (46,421 people received one-time social insurance benefits) and sickness, maternity, and health recovery benefits were 436,655 people.

Regarding the issue of one-time withdrawal of social insurance, the Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance Agency has implemented many solutions to facilitate people. Specifically, such as adding personnel to receive documents; communicating methods of submitting documents and how to register work schedules in advance with the Social Insurance Agency...

Currently, many workers still do not know that they can submit their application for one-time social insurance benefits at any district or commune social insurance agency nationwide, so many workers residing in other provinces and cities come to Ho Chi Minh City to submit their applications. This puts pressure on social insurance agencies in the suburbs of Ho Chi Minh City.

Therefore, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance Lo Quan Hiep hopes that provinces and cities will join hands to share responsibility with Ho Chi Minh City in disseminating information and resolving social insurance benefits for employees.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, on the occasion of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, June 21, Mr. Lo Quan Hiep, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance, expressed his thanks to reporters and media agencies who have actively informed about social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance policies and reflected on practical issues related to the unit.
