Philippine businesses are ready with procedures, facilities, and testing facilities to quickly import African swine fever vaccines produced in Vietnam.
In a private statement to the Industry and Trade Newspaper, Mr. Phung Van Thanh - Commercial Counselor, Vietnam Trade Office in the Philippines said that Vietnam and the Philippines have great prospects in trade cooperation in vaccine production and export.
Specifically, on March 29, Dabaco Group will hold the inauguration ceremony of the Dacovet vaccine factory and announce the commercialization of the African swine fever vaccine ASF. On this occasion, the Vietnam Trade Office in the Philippines has coordinated with ministries, branches and domestic enterprises to connect and invite a delegation of Philippine businesses to attend the event as well as explore the Vietnamese market to seek trade opportunities in this field.

Mr. Phung Van Thanh said that there will be 13 representatives of Philippine agencies/enterprises visiting Vietnam this time. The head of the delegation is Dr. Constante J. Palabrica, DVM - Undersecretary of the Philippine Department of Agriculture - in charge of the livestock and poultry sector.
The group of Philippine agencies/enterprises coming to Vietnam this time is divided into 3 main components.
One is a representative from the Philippine Department of Agriculture - the agency with the main function and authority in recognizing test results, approving and licensing the circulation of African swine fever vaccines in the Philippines.
Second is the group of businesses and experts. Businesses that wish to cooperate with Dabaco include EDL Group.
With the approval of the Philippine Department of Agriculture, EDL Group has prepared the procedures, facilities, and testing facilities to quickly import ASF vaccines to meet the needs of Philippine pig farmers. In addition, EDL Group also wishes to cooperate with Dabaco in the field of pig farming (breeding, insemination, breeding animals, etc.) and other agricultural products.
The third is representatives of livestock breeders and/or distributors of veterinary drugs and vaccines organized by EDL, who want to learn and witness firsthand the research and production of Dabaco's ASF vaccine, thereby trusting and willing to participate in testing and distributing Dabaco's ASF when imported into the Philippines.
Mr. Phung Van Thanh said that the Philippines is currently very interested in the African swine fever vaccine. Because not only Vietnam but the Philippines is also a country seriously affected by African swine fever.
From a total herd of over 13 million pigs in 2020 and before, due to the impact of African swine fever, by 2021, the Philippines' herd was only nearly 9 million pigs. Increasing the herd in the post-epidemic period encountered many difficulties.
Despite seeing the serious impact of the epidemic, the Philippines does not have a single business or laboratory investing in research and production of African swine fever vaccine.
Therefore, the need for African swine fever vaccine in the Philippines is more urgent than ever. The fact that Vietnamese enterprises, including Dabaco Group, have successfully researched, tested and produced African swine fever vaccine is not only a success for Vietnam but also creates great hope, attracting the attention of not only the Government, management agencies but also businesses and farm owners in the Philippines.
Faced with that potential, the Vietnam Trade Office in the Philippines has made efforts to connect Philippine businesses/partners to open up cooperation opportunities with Dabaco Group not only in the field of vaccines but also in livestock and agricultural products.
Dabaco is one of the leading units in Vietnam that pioneered the research and successful production of commercial vaccines against African swine fever (ASF). At the same time, the Group's vaccine production plant was also invested in and completed and granted GMP-WHO certification. The research, testing and successful production of commercial vaccines against African swine fever (ASF) is not only the pride of Dabaco Group but also the pride of Vietnam. African swine fever vaccine products produced by Dabaco, in addition to supplying the market to serve domestic livestock units, also want to export to other countries, to meet the needs of disease prevention and enhance Vietnam's reputation with international friends. |
