Midfielder Quang Hai affirms he is not a star

Midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai affirmed that he is not a star but every player in the Vietnam national team has the same duties.

"Each training session gives me great motivation because this is the national team and I am truly proud. With any coach, I will practice and compete with the highest spirit," midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai shared on the sidelines of the Vietnam team 's training session on the afternoon of June 12.

Talking about new coach Troussier and his football philosophy, the 26-year-old midfielder said: "I think the head coach always wants to convey his ideas and working philosophy to each player. He always has individual instructions for each person so that they can absorb his working philosophy.

The way Mr. Troussier plays also has many special and new things. Each player probably feels interested in what he wants from each person, each position and the whole team. The new head coach requires more meticulousness in everything and especially, he requires the players to think bigger."

Midfielder Quang Hai shared that not playing regularly at Pau FC affects many issues such as ball feeling or physical strength. However, this is not a big problem for him. This player affirmed that he will try to practice to get a good position in the national team.

"The intensity of movement and the speed of ball circulation in the Vietnam team is much faster than in Pau FC. But I think there should be no comparison because the players all have to adapt to the tactical intentions of the head coach," Quang Hai said.

Besides, the former midfielder of Hanoi club affirmed that he is not a star in the Vietnam national team according to many opinions.

He emphasized that each member is the same, trying to create the best, strongest team and compete to bring success and victory to the fans.

Meanwhile, central defender Que Ngoc Hai is also one of the faces chosen to participate in the friendly match against Hong Kong (China). He shared: "I think the players selected in the list are those who have undergone training in the past few days, have made efforts to demonstrate their expertise and themselves.

For the players who were not able to participate, coach Troussier talked with them and affirmed that these players still have opportunities in the following training sessions if they perform well in the V.League matches.

Talking about the competition in the center-back position, Ngoc Hai emphasized that the Vietnamese team has a very good generation of players in the defense line with experienced players as well as young players who have played a lot in the V.League and internationally in the U23 and national team jerseys.

In addition, this central defender also said that during the gathering, coach Troussier clearly stated the goal was the matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in November.

The upcoming matches are friendly matches to test and select the best players for the official important tournaments.

Khuat Van Khang is one of 4 U23 Vietnam players selected to participate in the match against Hong Kong (China).

The young midfielder said that training with the Vietnamese team helps U23 Vietnam gain confidence, practice skills, and learn more from their seniors.

"All positions try their best to understand the coach's tactics. For Mr. Troussier, the formation and collective play are the most important things.

If I get to play, I will try my best. First of all, I will play well to get the best result for the team, then I will try to score my own goals," Khuat Van Khang shared.

Tomorrow (June 13), the Vietnamese team will travel to Hai Phong to prepare for a friendly match with the Hong Kong team (China) at Lach Tray Stadium on June 15.
