Vietnam's opponent wins match before Asian Cup qualifiers

Nepal surprised by defeating Singapore.

In the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, Nepal is in the same group with Malaysia, Laos and Vietnam. And to prepare for this important tournament, Nepal chose to play a friendly match with Singapore to test the squad.

Nepal is currently ranked 175th in the FIFA rankings, 15 places below Singapore. However, the South Asian team surprised everyone by winning 1-0. The only goal of the match was scored by Jilipsee Jung in the 12th minute.

In this match, after scoring an early opening goal, Nepal players played a proactive defensive counter-attack. Meanwhile, Singapore, despite dominating the ball control and putting pressure on the opponent's goal, could not find an equalizer.

By defeating Singapore, Nepal has a favorable start before entering the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

According to the schedule, on March 25, the Vietnamese team will host the Lao team while Nepal will visit Malaysia. Coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will face Nepal on October 9, 2025.

In the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, 24 teams will be divided into 6 groups of 4 teams each to play a round-robin home and away match from March 25 to March 31, 2026. Only the group winners will qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia, so the competition will be fierce.
