Thanh Hoa Club has a new coach

Mr. Tomislav Steinbruckner is the head coach of Thanh Hoa Club.

"We will sign a contract with coach Tomislav Steinbruckner. He will start working from the beginning of next week," Mr. Cao Hoang Duc - CEO of Dong A Thanh Hoa club confirmed to VTC News.

Coach Tomislav Steinbruckner was born in 1966 in Croatia. Before joining Thanh Hoa, this coach worked for Terengganu - a strong team in Malaysia. It was Mr. Tomislav Steinbruckner who led Terengganu to face Thanh Hoa at the AFF Shopee Cup 2024/25 - the Southeast Asian Club Championship. The two teams ended the match with a 2-2 draw.

At the end of 2024, coach Tomislav Steinbruckner and his home team reached an agreement to terminate the contract. After the match between Thanh Hoa and Hai Phong in the quarter-finals of the National Cup, the Thanh team and coach Popov decided to terminate the contract ahead of schedule. Thanh Hoa Club appointed Mr. Mai Xuan Hop as interim coach. Thanh Hoa drew 2-2 with HAGL in round 15 of the V.League.

Talking about the process of negotiating a contract with a new coach, Mr. Cao Hoang Duc revealed: "In fact, we had no plans to find a new coach. It was not until Mr. Popov left that everything was promoted. The board of directors had many excellent candidates. However, Mr. Tomislav Steinbruckner has experience working in Southeast Asia, which is important.

When we mentioned the negotiations, Mr. Tomislav Steinbruckner also expressed that he wanted to find new challenges in Vietnam."

The Thanh team's leaders said they hope the new head coach will create a new breeze and soon end the winless streak that has stretched to 11 matches.

Thanh Hoa FC is currently ranked 4th on the rankings with 26 points, only 5 points behind the leading team Nam Dinh. In round 17 of V.League after the break for the national team, Thanh Hoa FC will be a guest at Hanoi FC.
