Information from Thanh Hoa Club confirmed that the team will continue to use a coach from Eastern Europe, after the successes with Mr. Velizar Popov (Bulgaria) from 2022 to 2025, or Mr. Ljubomir Petrovic (Serbia) from 2020 to 2022.
The new head coach of the Thanh team will be Mr. Tomislav Steinbruckner, born in 1966 in Croatia. Mr. Tomislav Steinbruckner began his coaching career in 2001 as an assistant coach at NK Osijek (Croatian Championship), U19 Croatia.
In 2019, Mr. Tomislav Steinbruckner was appointed head coach at Bijelo Brdo Club (Croatian 2nd division) for three seasons.
In 2022, he moved to Southeast Asia to work as technical director, then head coach of Terengganu FC (Malaysian Championship) until October 2024.
At Terengganu FC, Mr. Tomislav Steinbruckner impressed when helping the team win the runner-up position in the National Cup and the 2023 Malaysia Super Cup.
According to Thanh Hoa Club, coach Tomislav Steinbruckner has a strong and flexible coaching style. In the group stage of the 2024 - 2025 Southeast Asian Club Championship, Tomislav Steinbruckner led Terengganu to a 2-2 draw against Thanh Hoa Club.
Coach Tomislav Steinbruckner is expected to start leading Thanh Hoa Club from March 24, replacing interim coach Mai Xuan Hop to return to the position of assistant coach.
After 16 rounds of V-Leaugue 2024 - 2025, Thanh Hoa Club is ranked 4th with 26 points, 5 points behind the top position of Nam Dinh Club. In round 17, Thanh Hoa Club will visit Hang Day Stadium of Hanoi Club at 7:15 p.m. on April 6.
