Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong welcomed Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro Lopez Miera and his delegation on their official visit to Vietnam; congratulated Cuba on the successful organization of the 10th National Assembly election. Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong wished the delegation a successful visit to Vietnam, contributing to the special traditional friendship between the two countries and the two Armies. Through Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro Lopez Miera, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong sent his regards and invitation to the Chief of the General Staff of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces to soon pay an official visit to Vietnam at a suitable time.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong affirmed that the defense relations between the two countries have been continuously strengthened and developed in recent times, becoming a pillar and model for promoting other areas of cooperation. Accordingly, the two countries' armies have maintained effective cooperation in many areas, in accordance with signed documents and agreements and the consensus between the leaders of the two countries and the two armies, achieving important results in areas such as: Delegation exchange, defense industry, military medicine, training, etc.

For his part, Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro López Miera thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for the warm welcome given to the delegation; expressed his affection for the country and people of Vietnam; and affirmed the importance of the special friendship between the two countries and the two Armies. Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro López Miera informed Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong of the results of his talks earlier that day with Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense. Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro López Miera expressed his desire to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation between Cuba and Vietnam in the coming time in areas where both sides have the capabilities and needs. Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro López Miera expressed his belief that defense cooperation between the two countries will develop more and more effectively on the basis of the recently signed Cooperation Plan for the period 2023-2025.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong said that the success of the talks between Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang and Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro Lopez Miera is the basis for the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army to direct functional agencies and units to practically and effectively implement the contents of the talks agreed upon by the two Ministers, as well as in accordance with the 2023-2025 Cooperation Plan recently signed by the two sides.
