Within the framework of the working trip to attend the 2024 WEF Dalian Conference and work in China, on the afternoon of June 26 in Beijing, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the working delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy, ​​met and encouraged officials and staff of Vietnamese representative agencies and permanent agencies in China.

Report on operations,   Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai said that since the beginning of the year, exchange activities and delegations have been vibrant, promoting exchanges between the two sides and ministries to make cooperation more concrete, and enhancing trust between the two sides in some areas that have not been really favorable.

Affirming that relations with China are a strategic choice and top priority

Following the Prime Minister's instructions during his visit to the Embassy a year ago, the Ambassador said that the Embassy's staff have made efforts to handle the work of the people as if it were their own.

Expressing his joy when visiting the Embassy again, the Prime Minister said that the achievements in the relations between the two countries in recent times have had a significant contribution from the Embassy's staff. This is both an honor and pride, as well as a great responsibility.

In relations with China, the Prime Minister said that it is necessary to learn from the experience of timely policy responses, strong decisions and decisive and effective implementation of tasks, completing each task thoroughly. China also has an international and global vision and a leading role.

The Prime Minister pointed out that developing relations with China is an objective requirement, a strategic choice and a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification of international relations.

The Prime Minister said that during this working trip, in addition to attending activities within the framework of the WEF Dalian Conference, the Prime Minister had meetings and talks with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, Premier of the State Council Li Qiang and Chairman of the National People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning.

Announcing the results, the Prime Minister said that the two sides reviewed the positive developments in the Vietnam-China bilateral relationship in recent times, especially after the historic visits of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to China (October 2022) and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam (December 2023).

Accordingly, the two sides agreed to continue to concretize high-level common perceptions, especially the Vietnam-China Joint Statement on continuing to deepen and elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future with strategic significance in the direction of "6 more".

According to the Prime Minister, the visits of senior leaders of both sides have created a “completely different atmosphere”, with more trust, sincerity and affection. Along with that is the cooperation of ministries, localities, border exchanges, bilateral defense, science and technology cooperation, people-to-people and youth exchanges, etc.

Thanks to that, the relationship between the two countries has achieved good and comprehensive results. Political trust has been strengthened; many new cooperation mechanisms in important fields have been established; strategic connections, especially transport connections, have been accelerated; trade cooperation has grown rapidly; Chinese investment in Vietnam has increased sharply; tourism has recovered strongly; cooperation between localities and people-to-people exchanges have taken place vigorously...

Realize effective, measurable high-level agreements

Regarding the upcoming direction, the Prime Minister said that the high-level agreements with 287 tasks will be concretized. The spirit of implementing these tasks is "what is said must be done, what is done must be effective, measured and quantifiable". This needs to be reviewed continuously, monthly, so that in the next meetings there must be specific results to discuss.

In the immediate future, the Prime Minister assigned the Embassy and relevant units the task of promoting China to continue opening its market to Vietnamese goods. In particular, expanding the list of key products that Vietnam has strengths in and that the Chinese market has high demand for, such as agricultural products and fruits.

Promote transport connectivity, including three railway routes with China (Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong; Lang Son - Hanoi; Mong Cai - Ha Long - Hai Phong) and cooperation in areas where China has strengths and Vietnam has needs, such as science and technology, artificial intelligence, energy, digital economy, digital transformation...

Providing more information on the achievements in the economy and society, the Prime Minister shared specific information about salary reform, pension adjustment, social insurance benefits, preferential treatment for meritorious people and social benefits. Accordingly, from July 1, the basic salary will increase by 30%, from 1.8 million to 2.34 million VND per month. Pensions and insurance benefits will increase by 15%...

"The current budget has nearly 700,000 billion VND for salary increases. We have enough money to increase salaries for the next three years," the Prime Minister said, encouraging embassy staff to work with peace of mind.
