Also attending the meeting were representatives of the following Departments and Divisions: Department of European - American Markets, Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Department of Oil, Gas and Coal, Electricity Regulatory Authority, Department of Energy Conservation and Sustainable Development, and Institute of Energy.
At the reception, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long affirmed that, on the basis of the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement ( EVFTA ) as well as the good friendship between Vietnam and each European member country, the relationship between Vietnam and the EU is constantly being strengthened and consolidated.
The EU is one of Vietnam’s leading economic partners and major development aid providers. With the EU’s professional, technical and financial support, many projects on agriculture, energy, climate change response, etc. have been implemented, contributing positively to Vietnam’s development.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long thanked European countries in particular and the EU in general for their support to Vietnam in enhancing its ability to respond to climate change, notably the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). This is a cooperation mechanism between the Group of Seven (G7) and its partners, including five EU members and Vietnam.
The EU Group, together with member states France, Germany, Italy, Denmark and European financial institutions, is working together to provide 15.5 billion Euros to help Vietnam achieve its goal of net zero emissions by 2050, gradually eliminating fossil energy sources, moving towards developing renewable energy sources and improving energy efficiency.

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade hopes that in the coming time, the EU will continue to accompany Vietnam in the fields of green transformation, digital transformation, climate change adaptation, innovation, and startups.
Also at the meeting, EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier thanked the leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for warmly welcoming the delegation, and affirmed that the EVFTA, which took effect from August 2020, has contributed to creating more leverage and further promoting the EU-Vietnam cooperation relationship to become increasingly deeper and more effective.

Ambassador Julien Guerrier emphasized that Vietnam is one of the EU's main partners in Southeast Asia with the largest number of agreements. EU member countries will continue to invest and share development experiences with Vietnam, and at the same time hope that Vietnam will support and connect with European countries to achieve great strides in cooperation.
