Hanoi Tet market has 'red peach blossoms' priced at hundreds of millions of dong

For the first time, the Tet market in Hanoi welcomed whole "red peach trees" to serve people shopping for the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025.

For about half a month now, the Tet market stall on Pham Hung Street (Me Tri Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi) has been selling "red peach blossoms", imported from the Netherlands and China, with a brilliant red color, adding to the richness of the Tet flower market in the capital.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hao (owner of a peach garden on Pham Hung Street), since 2021, the Hanoi Tet ornamental plant market has had red winter peaches, but mainly in the form of dried decorative trees in vases and small fresh branches.

This year, for the first time, red peach blossoms have arrived in Vietnam and Hanoi in the form of fresh trees with roots.

Winterberry is a native flower of Western countries. It cannot be grown in Vietnam due to the different climate, so the flowers are often imported directly from the Netherlands.

The characteristic of red peach is that it bears fruit in winter when the tree has lost all its leaves, leaving only the trunk and lush, bright red fruit.

Red peach trees are suitable for cold weather, so when transported to Vietnam, they need to be preserved in refrigerated containers, which are expensive, ranging from 450,000 - 780,000 VND/branch depending on size.

To have a beautiful, eye-catching peach blossom vase, each vase must have 5 - 10 branches, worth about 3 - 6 million/vase.

Red peach blossoms are decorated and placed on wooden trunks in artistic shapes.

There are trees up to 150 million VND.

Despite the high price, this item is attracting customers during Tet.

Most of the customers who come to buy are business owners or customers who buy as gifts.

The price of bonsai peach trees or small pots ranges from 3-20 million VND.

In Vietnamese folk beliefs, red symbolizes luck, fortune, and prosperity.

Peach blossoms with bright red color represent a lucky new beginning, bringing fortune, peace and prosperity to the homeowner.

Besides its spiritual significance, red peach blossoms are suitable for hanging decorative objects such as parallel sentences, lucky money, flashing lights, etc.

Different from the brilliant beauty of traditional peach blossoms, winter peaches impress with clusters of plump, red fruit on the branches.
